Hey, you just download this latest audio driver for your intel motherboard from the

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filter_results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=1704&OSFullName=Windows*+XP+Professional&lang=eng&strOSs=44&submit=Go!

after downloading completely, you just remove your old audio driver completely and restart your machine.

After that, install the new audio driver that you downloaded and than restart your machine.

You have not install the drivers correctly.

Since your model audio is HD, you have to install the XP update first ie "Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bus Driver for High Definition Audio (sp33867)", before installing the device sound drivers "Conexant CX20549-12 Audio Driver for Microsoft Windows XP".

You can download the dtivers HERE

Multimedia audio controller, sm bus controller not working

Check if the motherboard driver are installed. The sound and sm bus driver are in the CD installer of the motherboard. Load the motherboard installer to the CD drive and install. Did you remember during the time you buy your unit the CD installer are given. That CD is useful every time you have trouble your unit. It's better if you kept that CD installer.

Do you see anything called "PCI DEVICE" in device management? it should be in yellow if it is there. if u have that error download and install microsoft uaa bus driver and it will then find the audio drivers. then u can start installing audio driver from your motherboard cd.

Audio driver installation failed from mother board cd

The most common solution was this: open device manager click "system devices" disable "microsoft UAA bus driver for high definition audio" uninstall "UAA bus driver" make rescan devices (Note: Not all had this step. You may want to skip it.) D.W. install realtek driver the realtek driver includes the UAA driver too.Hope this helps.
