Re: thw on/off button isnt responding, but the light...
I apologize then, the monitor is definitely bad. If the menus can't be accessed and you can't get a self-test to come up then the monitor is done. From my experience, sounds like it might be bad capacitors on the power board that go puffy, but taking it into an electronics shop and having it fixed might cost more then the monitor is worth.

A friend of mine had this same problem with an LG Ally. Eventually he had to remove the battery from the phone and replace it before the screen would respond. Some other things to try if that doesn't work:
Remove any screen protector you may have put on the phone. It is rare, but sometimes these can interfere with touchscreens of certain types
Reset the phone to the factory defaults (steps below):
Turn the power off.
Press and hold: Home Key + Power Key + Up or Down Volume Key.
Turn the power on, while keeping the three keys pressed.
When the LG logo is shown, release the keys.
Failing the above, I would return the phone to the retailer from which it was purchased. It's possible that the touchscreen is simply flawed.
if your internal lcd isnt working, it could be part of the flex cable, but unlikly, if it were both screens would be out. it could be a simple pressure crack, its something thats hard to see. if i had some advice it would be to buy a flex or a new lcd...if you need help instaling it, just get back to me and i can walk you through the steps
Most screens will show nothing or go to power saving mode until the PC is turned on. The monitors need a signal in order to be 'active'. From your description it could just as well be a problem with the PC rather than the monitor. The easiest way to find out is to connect another PC or laptop to the screen or connect another monitor to the PC unit.
Did you try pressing the Del key or F2 key when you turn on the unit to get into the Bios?
If that is the case your system need to check the battery for fault and does it happen with the power source too i fthe same problem check your processor fan if its bad when you on the system and is not blowing that might have cause the processor itself to get bad you will have to change this ones and then your system will be ok right rate this solution.
I have the same problem. But i had solved it. I use a lighter to burn on my viewty's touch screen, and it is working properly again within 30 secs. And ofcourse, do not burn the touch screen without a screen protector. Hope this solution would help.

Click START, (right Click) my computer, select properties then device manager, it shoud show up in DVD/CD-ROM drives
if it doesnt then right click on anything and scan for hardware changes. If it doesnt show up then it isnt connected propperly.
