I have a Toshiba D-R410 DVD recorder. I haven't been able to set it up correctly. I get a blank screen when I try to play what I've "recorded." I only have a cable wire connected to this t.v. Do I need a cable box? Is that the problem?

- I've tried what you said to do regarding the color-coding, but it still doesn't work. I don't know what "5.1 compatible" means. I have a Samsung t.v. that I bought last year.
ok let's start from simple connection.we'll use color coding, let's say rca plug. yellow plug is video.from DVD video out is yellow and to the tv is video in. white and red is for audio.if your tv is 5.1 compatible then follow the label on your DVD and insert it to its corresponding label on your tv.then still if your using a separate audio amplifier only the yellow/video plug is used.

- what i mean by 5.1 compatible is for surround sound.it just occurred to me, does your tv has video out?it is a connection for the tv to the recorder.it can be found below or above the video in.its color is yellow ,too.so from the tv's video out,use a plug and insert it to the video in of the recorder.one more question, does your recordere has antenna in?
