Question about Zenith A36B41W 36" TV

1 Answer

High pitch squeeling noise/no picture.

The TV was given to me by a women I did some work for.  The women said that when watching the TV it suddenly clicked, she lost picture and the squeeling noise started with a burning electronics smell.  Ever since then it doesnt switch on and when plugged in just has the squeeling noise with the burning smell.  I noticed when I unplug the set the squeeling noise doesn't stop right away, it just seems to fade away. I have taken the back of the TV off to see if there is any smoke that might indicate where the problem is and didnt see any.  After reading some of the info off other sites and speaking with others I was hoping this is easy to fix, like plugging in another part into the board. Please let me know, Im pretty handy, but please respond in easy terms and directions. Any solutions you give me I understand you are not liable for.

Re: High pitch squeeling noise/no picture.

Your problem is due short circuit in horizontal section of  tv

your problem & smell is due to horizontal section failure.

in that section

1 flyback transformer & horizontal output transistor might be faulty.

but remember to check power supply is normal other wise it may fail again.

for skilled technician it is not a major problem &easy to fix at fair cost.

good luck.

Check the horizontal output section circuit. It sounds that the LOT {Line Output Transformer} has damaged.

My tv makes a high pitch noise and is getting longer and more frequent, can you suggest a solution. thanks

The squeel you hear is created by a part wich is vibrating (resonating) at the horizontal Frequency - approx. 15KHz - To stop the noise you have to locate which part is vibrating and either replace it or isolate its vibration - The parts which commonly vibrate are theFlyback transformer or drive/pincussion transformer or the yoke. Each of these parts have hazardous voltage and High Voltage present so care should be taken when working around these areas.

When my rca 36F530 tv is plugged in it makes a high pitched buzzing noise picture does not come on

There is a short circuit in the high voltage circuit. the transformer who helps to create the high voltage or his power transistor is damage. replacement needed. the repair is not expensive, because the parts are average repair. Ask for an estimate.

My rca tru flat is NFG

The high-pitched squeal usually indicates that the horizontal drive circuit has failed as a result of a dead line-output transistor. This symptom indicates that the control circuit of the main power supply is trying to over-compensate for a greater than usual secondary current. Certainly, an inspection of the line-output transistor will show that it's most likely dead. Sometimes instead of the squeal you will hear hiccups instead. Focus your attention on the horizontal circuit.

No Picture

Rarely picture tube also shows the same symptom. High pitch sound is due to through deflection area LOT power supply is loaded. Compulsary horizontal output transister short. From your statement i think Lot puncture takes place. Change LOT and horizontal output transister and check tv is now working.

Zenith C27V22 27" TV loud humming noise

There is a coil in the set with a magnet glued to it, called the horizontal linearity coil. Sometimes the coil "sings", making a squeeling sound. I have seen this many times, and there really isnt anything actually electrically wrong with the set. To stop the squeeling the coil should be replaced.

High pitch sound and fuzzy

The high pitched sound, probably not, unless you open this TV set and find out what is making the noise and replace the part. Most likely a coil or transformer is vibrating so fast that the frequency is very high. On the focus, possibly can be adjusted. Now when you take off the back of this TV set, i must warn you, follow my instructions to the letter as there is enough High Voltage in this set to make a grown man cry! After you take out all of the screws off the rear cover, carefully lift up the cover straight up. Oh by the way the TV should be face down. Opps! Not stand back up the TV set and there will be a Grey or black block like looking thing with a large red wire going to the top of the picture tube. on this block you will find two controls, one will say screen, and the other will say focus. DO NOT ADJUST ANYTHING ELSE WHEN YOU ARE IN THIS TV SET!!! No slowly rock the focus control back and forth till you get the sharpest picture. Put back on the back cover and enjoy!!! Good Luck
