Toshiba 50hpx95 Plasma tv about a year and half old which means warrenty is out. There is a red blinking light on the front of the tv will not come on relays click when the tv is plugged in. All repair shops want it "brought in" and a deposit to tell me whats wrong with it. I have service manual and believe its a power supply issue. Where do I go from here?

Re: Toshiba 50hpx95

How much electronic or solid state repair experience do you have. Can you read a schematic and follow circuit flow from one circuit to another? Do you know how to use a multimeter? If you say no to one of these, this is not the repair for you. If you say yes, send the service manual to and I will take a look. Good Luck

Samsung model#PN51E46OAIF....TV -one year old won't turn on. Red power light blinks one time every ten seconds

If this is a plasma tv--and the model # sounds like it is it may have lost a sustain board a VERY common problem in these.

Red light blinking on front panel & set wont come on.

The red light is the blink code for your tv. Count the number of blinks and Google your make and model with blink codes added to the end. This will take you to sites that will tell you what the code means.

I have a 4 year old Sony KDF-E42A10 television - the power/standby light blinks red 5 times, pauses, blinks red 5 times again, etc. I have replaced the lamp previously when the light was blinking red 3...

Hi there,
5 blinks means there is a problem with the video board. It could be as simple as unplugging everything, includding power. Wait 3 minutes then plug power only back in. Or it may be a damaged component that requires replacing.
Hope this helps

My toshiba TP50H15 color tv comes on then off and the light blink

The flashing power light on those Toshibas is usually caused by capacitors on the power board having failed solder connections. I have fixed them before by removing the power board and resoldering the capacitors. If you have experience with soldering and electronics it is an easy repair. Most shops will recommend replacing the entire board since their labor to repair it would probably cost more. Toshiba put out a service bulletin on this issue which a good technician should be aware of. (If memory serves the capacitors are C109 and C110.  Since your TV still turns on you probably haven't blown fuse F860 which often blows when these capacitors act up.)
If you would like further help with this please post a comment back here.

Is it time to forklift this monster out?

I'm not completely an expert in projection televisions, but from what i do know about those, it might just be a question of the lenses on the projectors that need to be realigned, or the back mirror plate that has started to phase, warp or just unglue in some cases. So if it is just that then it will cost you a bit less to have it repaired then to buy a new one, but of course if you decide to invest a little more and buyt a new one, i would strongly suggest buying either an LCD TV or a Plasma TV model, as they will cost around the same as a new projection model, if you can find any cause i've heard they are disappearing from the market. Of course though, an LCD model will give a little less warmth and glow to the picture, but will usually cost heaps less for the same screen size, and still deliver something a bit better than the old school HD cathode ray flat screens that came out just before plasma and LCD went in vogue. So it's all a question of how much money you are willing to invest and wether you old TV has sentimental value to you or not, as some people cherish their posessions more than others.

Your TV needs a new lamp. We have had our TV for 3 yrs and every year without fail, we have had to replace the lamp. Its getting old at this point because our warranty is about to run out and that means we will be paying around $170 a year to replace the lamp. I wouldnt buy this TV again.....

If you have the owners manual look on page 64 and see what it says there about the light lighting up in the front of the unit. if you do not have the owners manual, you can get one for free here:
