Drive D can not be opened.
I tell my whole problem.i have compaq presario V611TU laptop.
i was running net without using any antivirus. Some days ago the problems were start coming.following problems are coming.
1. run option from start menu is not coming.
2. now when i try to install norton AV 2007. it get installed but it shows problem in it.i.e no live updates.and give message that there is some problem in installing AV when i open for scanning.
3.i have never opened drive D of my laptop since i have purchased.
when i try to open it shows some security message that this partion is important. i want to know how can i open drive D.
4.my battery back up is of only 1 hr and laptop is 9 months old. Is it ok.

well there is many steps you can take. Personally i would turn off system restore so all restore points are deleted. Virus could be stored in there. hit apply then check mark it to turn back on.
try to download any free antivirus i use avg free, and run a complete system scan. next try to load ad- aware se personal free download. and to complete scan. drive d is a partition for a asr automated system recovery. I would not suggest using that yet. let me know how it works for you. if it wont let you download the updates. for the freeware scanners. shut the computer down and reboot. as the system is rebooting tap f8 and start the computer in safe mode with networking try to load and scan system.
