I was exploring the setup menu and I found an election of Progressive Scan "on" and "off". When I tried "on" then the picture get out and no image was since then. I can't...

There are 2 ways you can reset the player to default factory settings, although I am not sure about progressive scan being reverted back to interlaced output.

1) Unplug the player (or switch off) at power point, as soon as you reconnect (switch on) power to unit, press and hold the [STANDBY-ON] button (on the front). As soon as you see 'IS TV ON?' on the front panel display, release the [STANDBY-ON] button. This should reset it.

- OR -

2) If you do not have the instruction manual, you can download a free pdf of it;

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Philips-DVDR615-DVD-Players-manual/id/280ag201/t/2/

I hope this helps a tiny bit.

Hi, I've a small problem cocerning this dv-363 player. I accidentally set it to 'progressive'. Now I cannot undo. I tried holding the buttons on remote and on machine itself, still not working, can you...

Progressive Scan is a menu option relating to video output of this player. Assuming you have the original DVD remote, this should be easy.

* From the user manual (pages 50-51 of the pdf document):

About progressive scan video
Compared to interlace video, progressive
scan video effectively doubles the scanning
rate of the picture, resulting in a very stable,
flicker-free image. Progressive scan video is
available only from the component video
output.

If you connect a TV that is not compatible
with a progressive scan signal and switch
the player to progressive, you will not be
able to see any picture at all. In this case,
switch everything off and reconnect using
the supplied video cable (see Easy
connections on page 14), then switch
back to Interlace. Switch the player to
standby then, using the front panel
controls, press STANDBY/ON while
pressing 'back to Interlace.

Hold these 2 buttons together for about 10-15 seconds or so, but only while the player is in standby mode. *

If you have lost the manual, you may be able to download the user guide (as an adobe reader (pdf) document) from:

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Pioneer-DV-363-K-DVD-Players-manual/id/385bh937/t/2/

(it will ask you for an email address prior to downloading - use a blank address if possible and enter the security code in the fields then save the document)

If the above suggestion does not switch it back to interlace, you will need a TV with progressive scan function to enable you to access the player's on-screen menu and in 'Initial Settings' 'Video Output' 'Component Out' section, select 'Interlace'. and press OK from remote as required.

Either way, it should NOT require a workshop service, and is simple enough to do at consumer level with the right TV type.

I am stuck in the Progressive Scan Mode on my DVD player & cant get it out of the blue screen. I have tried reseting it & even unplugging the player.

If your TV does not support progressive scan, you won't be able to get out of the blue screen. The only way to solve this issue is to connect the unit to a multistandard TV which has this capability, then in the player's on screen menu, look for anything that would allow you to select either progressive or interlace as its video output (or has progressive on and off feature) - and switch progressive 'off'. This should revert the output back to interlace. Then unplug the combo, reconnect it to your original set, and it should work fine after that.

Not impossible to correct, but a real pain if progressive is selected in a DVD player's output and the TV does not have that feature. Some DVD players have progressive output as a default option in their setup. Reverting it to interlace or turning it off so it matches the TV it is connected to should solve this problem.

I accidently hit progressive button. Since the screen on my television is now black, I cannot see the menu to change to interlace. What do I do?

Hook your TV up to the yellow composite output, which is usually always interlaced on most DVD players. You should then be able to see the DVD output and can go in and change the component output back to interlaced. Then hook it up normally.
Alternately, you can take your DVD player to a progressive TV, either at a friend's house or even a home theater store to "test" it in progressive mode and then change it back to interlaced.

Cyberhome DVD-1600
To set the factory default settings just do the following:
  1. Get the DVD-1600 manual
  2. Open to the page which shows you how to set the player to factory default settings
  3. Switch on the TV and click to the channel that you will watch your DVDs
  4. Switch on the DVD player and make sure there is no disc in it - this ensures the DVD is not already in a menu or any other thing
  5. Follow the instructions in the manual to the 'T' although you will be unable to see anything
  6. If you follow the instructions correctly you should get back to 'interlaced mode'. By this time you will be able to see the DVD output on the screen.

Magnavox mrv640-accidentally turned on progressive scan

Had exactly the same problem. You need to reset the DVD recorder to it's default setting. The default is "interlaced".

From the users manual.........

Switching the DVD Recorder
1
Disconnect the recorder's power cord.
2 Hold down the FF button (arrow pointing left) the front of the DVD Recorder while
reconnecting the power cord. 'PRO' (progressive scan) will appear
on the display.
3 If you want to switch back, repeat steps 1 and 2 . 'PRO'
(progressive scan) will disappear from the display. The DVD
Recorder is switched to 'Interlaced.'

The manual is at:

http://www.m4c.magnavox.com/files/m/mrv640_17/mrv640_17_dfu_aen.pdf

See page 12

It worked for me.

Stuck in Progressive Scan Mode...please help!

There should be a switch on the DVD player that is makred 'progressive/interlaced.' You need to flick this switch til it says interlaced, as obviously your TV cannot view progressive signals. It may be on the back of the player, or under a flap on the front.
