If you are install xp to a computer that had vista or has a sata hard drive. The SATA drivers must be loaded during setup. If this is not the case,Please post back with more details.

You need to find out the make and model of the hard drive,(you can do this in system properties)

Then you can go online and download the drivers.I can provide a link if you post back the make and model.

I have a similar situation where the original HD died and I replaced it with a 500 gig only to find that the system would only boot to a blue screen of death. There is no recovery disk available and acer no longer sell a RD either. Is there a work around for this. Also I have tried about 6 different drives (sata) with the same results. Also tried with a pre-loaded drive ( XP pro) same results. All other hardware with the exception of the MB have been tested and passed. Please kelp if ya can.

I had a similar problem, my desktop came out with Linux. Eventually I downloaded a file called "delpart.exe", booted from a Windows CD in DOS mode, ran the delpart.exe file from a floppy drive, which deleted the whole hard disk partitioning information, reformatted the hard disk and installed XP Home - and it's been running fine for 4 years now.

Doesn't install windows all version, hard disk not detect. another OS ubuntu is ok. please help me

Hello,

You will need to go into your BIOS and change the Plug and Play option to ON and move the CD ROM to be the first boot device. Once you do this, Start your Windows install with the CD/DVD in the pc and select a new/clean install and format the hard drive. (Complete format deleting all files.) This should do the trick.

Good Luck

Error 0x00007b with acer aspire 4530

I think your Hard Disk is affected with some bad sectors. Try formatting the entire Hard disk. Remove anyother devices that you have, like any memory cards in slot or cds or USB drives etc.

Thank you!

My OS freeze's as soon as i input my password

Hi there.
Sorry but i have to inform you that your hard drive is failing, the error messages that you are getting relate to this fact and is related to the hard drive having unrecoverable bad sectors or immanent hard drive failure.
There is no way you can recover the drive!!
Your only option now would be to buy a new drive for the computer or if the machine is still under warranty take advantage of that and send it in for repair, you will no doubt have to purchase a windows installation disk too.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

Cannot reinstall new os, seem my hard drive is not detected by os

I hope its not Vista os, because if the driver is not in its database, it does not accept any new driver. Install XP first and run the Vista Upgrade adviser from microsoft to check whether your PC hardware will run Vista....sodeep

Won't Boot

It appears your hard drive's MBR is wrecked.

Buy another hard drive.
Buy an external hard drive enclosure.
Replace the current bad hard drive with the new hard drive
Use your restore CD to reinstall your OS.
Put the bad hard drive in the external hard drive enclosure and acces it after your have installed the new OS.
Hopefully the MBR on your old drive is bad but you can access the data. It may also be that the hard drive is dead and you would have to send it to a data recovery service to recover it.
