Use the System Configuration utility (Msconfig.exe) to extract the original Helpctr.exe file to the Windows\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries folder on your hard disk. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Start your computer in Safe mode. To do this, restart your computer, press and hold down the CTRL key after your computer completes the Power On Self Test (POST), and then click Safe Mode on the Startup menu.
  2. Click Start, and then click Run.
  3. In the Open box, type msconfig, and then click OK.
  4. In the System Configuration Utility dialog box, click Extract File.
  5. In the Specify the system file you would like to restore box, type helpctr.exe, and then click Start.
  6. In the Restore from box, click Browse, and then browse to the C:\Windows\Options\Install folder, where C: is the drive on which Windows is installed, and then click OK.

NOTE: Use C:\Windows\Options\Install if you installed a Windows Me retail product, or C:\Windows\Options\Cabs if your computer manufacturer installed Windows Me.

Windows Me installs the cabinet files, by default, in the Windows\Options\Install folder. If these files are on your computer, you do not need your Windows Me CD-ROM because you can extract the Helpctr.exe from the appropriate folder on your hard disk.
  7. In the Save file in box, click Browse, and then browse to your C:\ drive (where C is the drive on which Windows is installed), and then click OK.
  8. Click OK to extract the file.
  9. Click Yes to the The destination folder C:\ does not exist. Do you want to create it? message.
  10. Click OK to the The file has been successfully extracted message, and then click OK to close the System Configuration Utility dialog box.
  11. Start Windows Explorer: Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Windows Explorer. Locate the Helpctr.exe file that you extracted to your drive C.
  12. Move the Helpctr.exe file to the C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries folder by right-clicking the Helpctr.exe file and selecting Cut. Navigate to the Binaries folder, right-click the folder, and then click Paste on the shortcut menu.
  13. Click Start, and then click Run.
  14. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

  15. Locate the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\Helpctr.exe In the right pane, verify that the key is set to the following value: C:\Windows\PCHealth\Helpctr\Binaries\Helpctr.exe If this registry entry does not exist, create a new entry. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Locate the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths
    2. Right-click App Paths, point to New, and then click Key.
    3. Type Helpctr.exe.
    4. In the left pane, click Helpctr.exe.
    5. In the right pane, right-click (Default), and then click Modify.
    6. In the Value data box, type C:\Windows\PCHealth\Helpctr\Binaries\Helpctr.exe, and then click OK.
  16. On the Registry menu, click Exit to quit the Registry Editor.

How to i change it the decimal setting , because i am getting wrong answers

I am not sure what you are exactly asking. However if you are concerned about the calculator not showing you enough decimal digits, this can be fixed as follows.

  1. Turn calculator ON
  2. If you see no icons, press [MENU]
  3. Use arrow keys to highlight [RUN] icon and press [EXE].
  4. In RUN screen press [SHIFT][MENU] to access (SetUp)
  5. Use down arrow key to scroll down the list of options until you reach Display.
When the Display line is highlighted you can press the function keys
  • F1 to activate Fix display mode
  • F2 to activate Scientific mode
  • F3 to activate Normal (Norm2 or Norm2 ) mode or F4 to activate the Engineering mode
If you select Fix or Sci you will have to specify the number of digits that are kept in the decimal part. You do so by pressing the relevant function key (F1,F2,F3 etc.).

Press [EXIT] to exit the SetUp screen.

Instruction book for this calculator is shocking for sure. It would take too long to explain fully, here is an example of plotting a simple Y= graph.

In main menu, when you first turn it on, press 1
This is normal calculator mode.
Press [shift] [menu] to get the set up parameters.
Scroll curser down one to Func Type, and select Y= if this is not already set, by pressing F1
Continue scrolling down to set Coord, Grid, Axes and Label functions. Turn these on or off as desired. Turn them all off for this example. F1 and F2 select On or Off here.
Press [exit]
Press [shift] F3 to access the V-window parameters. Here you set the size of the axis in the graph
Enter 0 for Xmin, 360 for Xmax, 0.1 for scale
Enter -1 for Ymin, 1 for Ymax, and 0.1 for scale
Press [exit]
Press [shift] F4 to enter graph plot mode (Sketch mode)
Press F1 then [EXE] to clear any previous graphs
Press F5 then F1 to select Y= type graph
Display should show Graph Y=
press [sin] [ X,0,T] (this key just under red alpha key) then [EXE]
Calculator should draw a sine wave, showing 1 complete wave
Try setting the parameters in Set up, Axes On, Label On etc to see the effect.
Hope this helps a little. Page 123 in book deals with graphing.

Restore missing Help and Support Files 1. Click Start, Run and type %windir%\INF
2. Locate the file pchealth.inf, right-click and choose Install
pchealth1.jpg There will be two files namely PCHealth.INF and PCHealth.PNF. You'll need to right-click on the INF file (identified by a text pad and Gear icon in it) and choose Install.
3. In the next step, you'll be asked for the Windows XP CD (to extract dataspec.xml and many other files). Insert your Windows XP CD and point to the i386 folder in the CD.
pchealth2.png 4. Click OK. This restores missing Help and Support files.
note: The PCHealth.INF installation routine is not complete, as it does not register Help and Support completely, nor does it create the helpsvc service and other registry keys. At this point of time, nothing may happen when you start Help and Support, or it exhibits an error message mentioning the Help and Support service is missing.
Step II - End the Help and Support services Click Start, click Run and type Taskmgr and click OK. This opens Task Manager. Click the Process tab. Terminate the following processes if running:
  • helpsvc.exe
  • helphost.exe
  • helpctr.exe
Reinstall Help and Support
Click Start, click Run and type cmd.exe, and click OK.
In Command Prompt, type the following commands one by one and press {ENTER} after each line. Alternately, you can copy the commands below to Notepad, save the file with .bat extension (e.g. helpfix.bat) and run it.
net stop helpsvc
cd /d %windir%\pchealth\helpctr\binaries
start /w helpsvc /svchost netsvcs /regserver /install
start /w helpsvc /register
start /w helpctr /regserver
