Question about Dryers

1 Answer

I have a whirlpool cleantouch that does not turn or heat up. The timer functions and shuts off when the door is opened, but there is not heat or motion in the drum. I would think this would be a simple solution, but I can't for the life of me figure it out. I am an electrician, but appliances are not a specialty of mine.

You have a bad power board and timer. Both needs to be replaced. Repairclinic.com should have all your parts that you need and it is real easy to replace. This is a problem then have been having with the cleantouch and once you replace these everything will work great

The selector knob on my Whirlpool LER4634JQ1 does not move, so the dryer will not turn off automatically and no "end of cycle" buzzer sounds. Do I simply replace the timer?

Your timer most likely does need to be replaced. The timer has a small motor that causes it to rotate during the cycle and those can go bad causing the timer to not advance. Unfortunately, you cannot get just that timer motor anymore. Hope this helps!

Whirlpool dryer doesnt heat, time and shut off when you open the door

if you have it on time dry and it doesn't count down the timer is bad but it should stop when you open the door unless you have a broken door switch too, just open the door and push in on the switch with your finger,it should make a clicking sound,if not the door switch is also broke,if you have the timer on auto or more or less then it won't move without heat.on auto the heat comes on when the dryer reaches temp. the heat shuts off and the timer will advance a little, then the heat starts again and the timer stops,it will do this until the clothes are dry by using a sensor instead of time.

Whirlpool model LER4634PQO dryer. Will not heat. Dryer also will not shut off. Timer is running but will not shut off at the end of cycle. Can manually shut off and opening the door also shuts dryer off.

96f3244.jpgEither the top limit or the element is open, that is why the timer motor is not advancing. The small wire on the bottom limit powers the timer motor. The fuse is not blown because the dryer runs. The fuse has smaller wires and is tied into the door switch wiring and when it blows it is as if you opened the door. If the top limit is dead it is because of a vent blockage. I have repair photos HERE

Dryer drum is turning, but not drying the clothes. When I open the door, there is heat. Lint has been cleaned out

Check where the dryer vent comes out and make sure that there is a good amount of air coming out. If the fan is blowing, the drum is turning, and there is heat, the likely thing is that the dryer vent is partially blocked. Check the pipe leading out. Bird's nests are not uncommon. The only other thing I can think of is that the door catch is wearing out and the door is popping open, shutting the dryer off mid-cycle. Some dryers will continue to run the timer if the cycle is interrupted and it will appear that the dryer ran its full cycle, but in reality it shut off soon after it started.

No heat/wont automatically shut off.whirlpool ler4600pqo . timer runs down to about almost finished, but stops timer at that point, will continue running until opening door or turning to off manually

The unit will continue to run as long as there are wet clothes in it. You will need to check the heating element and the two wire fuse on the top part of the heater housing. If either one have no continuity through them, you will need to replace the one that doesn't. This will fix your problem.

Hotpoint Dryer Heater stays on when door is opened

Strange. Heaters usually shut down with the spinning drum when door is open. If you check the schematic for unit you can check to see if in fact this is correct operation. Attached site usually has schematics for appliances. You might want to check. Search Over 2 1 Million Appliance Parts
