Question about Sanyo PLV-Z2 Multimedia Projector
The red power light just flashes (I haven't used the projector in a couple of weeks). No other lights are on. My bulb has lasted a very very long time so I wouldn't be surprised if it went out at any time, but the lamp light has never come on. I've tried the hard power switch, unplugging it, closing and reopening the front cover (normally I just leave it open all the time). One time the power light went solid, and when I pushed it it returned to blinking, and no fan or lamp started as far as I could tell. For the last several months I had noticed the fan kicking in late in a movie, maybe 1.5 hours in, so my guess is that it's related to the temp sensor and I'll have to have it serviced. Any ideas on what else I could try? Thanks!
Yup you definatly have a temp sensor issue. But dont worry, Its not a major issue. Ive had a plv-z3, and a plc-sw35,And both projectors gave me a temp sensor issue at one time or another. Its just a sanyo thing...
Heres what happend.. The ambient temp inside the projector shouldnt reach more than 100 degrees celcius, when it does the temp sensor (which looks like a small black pot, with a shaft, and a ceramic white tip) Opens up, and cuts off the high voltage supply to the projector, A fail safe to prevent any major damage. What essentially should happen is, that once the projector has cooled, the temp sensor should return to normal possition, and allow normal operation... BUT... sometimes it doesnt. And until you manually push the shft back down, You projector wont work again.
What you need to do, Is take off the top cover, Locate the sensor (its normally mounted next to, or on the lamp housing) And push on the white tip with a pen or small screwdriver to close the circut again.
Here it a full service manual for a plv-z3, which is almost identical to your unit.http://yama.co.za/forum/index.php?topic=147.0
