SOURCE: Have Dell E210882 MTB and need pwr-switch pin locations

No, don't automatically assume the mobo is broken. Look closely at all the pins. There should be a 4x2 rectangle of pins, maybe coloured. They'll say things like 'PWR-SWTCH' and 'çPU-LIGHT'
Connect those up, and your mobo manual should have specific details on what goes where.

SOURCE: front panel to motherboard, ASRock P4i65G, connections

the power switch is on the 3 and 4 pins....the 7 and 8 pin are the reset pins. Trying it on wrong pins just won't startup the board but won't short circuit anything.

Position of on/off switch in hp compac chip set boardmother board

If you're looking for a switch hard wired onto the board then you're out of luck, thats not a feature found on mainstream motherboards. However, the pins for wiring an on/off switch are usually located at the bottom right hand corner of the board. It should say PWR or SW above or below these pins, just plug in the switch and you're good to go.
Heres a picture.

661m04-mx-6l foxconn motherboard i need a diagram to tell me where the pins go onto the motherboard the ground ones reset power hdd ect ect ect.

All motherboards use the same pin connections for the front panel switches and led's.

There is a nine pin connector. 5 pins on the top row 4 on the bottom.(orient the board to get this view)

Starting with the top row , Pled+, Pled-, PWR SW, Ground. empty pin.

Bottom row. HDLED+, HDLED-, Ground, Reset, dummy pin.

I have an 945gzt-m v 1.0 and dont know were the pwr sw wire goes

Yes.
First, let's orient the view of the motherboard, so we are both looking at it the same way.
The processor is at the top middle, and the Front panel header, is to the very bottom right hand corner.
Right next to the motherboard mounting hole.
The Front Panel header goes across the bottom edge of the motherboard, lengthwise.

Looking at the top row of pins on the Front Panel header, No.2 Pin is at the far left. Pins 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10, go across the top.

Looking at the bottom row, No. 1 Pin is at the far left. Pins 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9, go across the bottom.

The power switch wires go to Pins 6 and 8.
The HDD LED wires go to Pins 1 and 3.
The power LED wires go to Pins 2 and 4.

On the power switch wires, the Positive (+) wire goes to Pin 6. Just in case this wire is marked.
(Doesn't really matter which way it goes, because it's a switch!)

On the HDD LED wires, the Positive (+) wires goes to Pin 1.

On the power LED wires, the Positive (+) wire goes to Pin 6.

I have a 1996 L400. There is a switch ECT PWR. What is it for? What does it do? When should I use it?

Hi there;
The ECT PWR switch. ECT stands for Electronicaly controled transmission. This switch controls the shift pattern of the transmission. In the PWR possition it will delay the shifts somewhat to give your car more power.
You would use this if you are in a possition where you need to accerate quickly from a light or to pass someone & need more power.

I hope this helps

Green light ext pwr

The ECT/power light is controlled by the ECT switch on the console. WHat it does is stretches the shift point from 1-2 and 2-3 when you are carrying a large load, or towing something. For maximum fuel economy, the light should be switched off.

Emachines t3830 I need the schematic for MB I umployed the wire for the push bottom without looking at the way they were plug. Now I do not know the correct aligning of the push bottom wires.

If you look at the motherboard there is usually a diagram labeled "FRONT PANEL HDR" that will tell you which pins are for: HDD LED, PWR LED, RESET, PWR ON. etc.
The chart / diagram may be a few inches away from front panel header.
the following example is from my emachine T2893 that I had opened because it won't power up.

the motherboard at the header connector labels pin #2 and with that you can figure out the other
pin numbers

example of diagram on motherboard (Confirm the pin numbers on your motherboard)

J9G1 PINS
| HD LED | 1 - 3 |
| PWR LED | 2 - 4 |
| RESET | 5 - 7 |

| PWR ON | 6 - 8 |

Hope this helps you figure which pins to hook you switch up to.

NEED TO KNOW WIRING

i have been to fic's web site, i cannot find any mb labeled au31.

do you have anymore information about the board, how old, which processor, what socket, which north bridge, south bridge, which model system, etc?

however the pins are usually marked "pwr sw" or "pwr" and are usually with all the other front panel connector pins.
