Sound problem I had purchased my Panasonic Model TX28LKIP TV in Warsaw (Poland). Now brought the same to London. While watching the video films through VCR the sound is just fine, but when connected to cable channels the sound is not coming only noise is heard. Please help me to fix the problem.

I have connected the VCR to TV at VCR input point, even I pull the jacks out it does not make the difference.  In my TV, under the menu there is no sound source selection.  there is only the adjustment of sound volume.   My friends are telling that my TV does not have a PAL system which works in UK.  Please help me how to check the PAL system of my TV with the one compatible in UK, and how to get it fixed myself.

I have not repeat not rated shadow 5599's solution as not helpful.  I believe he is very helpful person and tried to help me out.  I am sorry for not replying to you as I was not keeping well for few days.  Shadow5599 has correctly pointed out that it is due to incompatibility.  I rate his solution as very good.
Thanks.

If you have your vcr connected via the RCA audio/video jacks, pull those out.
Or check your tv's menu for sound source selection.

Yes of course there can be problems with buying a TV in one country and expecting it to work properly in another.
It may be an issue of incompatibility even though both countries use the PAL system. This is something you will need to check in the specs for your TV, or get the information through Panasonic.
You've already rated my initial help without bothering to wait for any progression based on you providing more details so good luck to you.

I want to rate Ram67 please.
I rate him as not helpful and as a result his rating for me should not be allowed due to his Unhelpful nature.
Please remove this fool's uncalled for negative rating on me.

What product would I require to hook up my Compaq laptop to my old TV Sony Trinitron to be able to watch films??

It all depend what output is available on your laptop. From what i see on internet your TV has front input for sound and composite video (yellow plug).
If you have VGA connector on laptop than you can purchase VGA to Composite video adapter, sound will come from ear phone output on your laptop.
If your laptop has only HDMI output, than you can buy HDMI to Composit (S-Video) adapter. Those have also audio out since HDMI carry both sound and video.
You can check internet for where to purchase those in your area.

Try running the audio from each video source (NOT the TV, which is an output, not a source) to the HTR digitally so you'll get the best mutichannel sound possible. Then you can turn the TV speakers (assuming it has them) off for hi-end watching.
