Question about Microsoft Windows XP Professional With Servise Pack 2 (e8503040) for PC
When i try to update my windows, i get the message: 'some updates could not be installed' followed by the specific message: Windows XP Service Pack 3 (KB936929). i worked out [with a great deal of time and effort] that it was this service pack that was giving me the repeated and repeated and repeated error message of Sonic Update Manager demand for a diskette that doesn't exist. [i worked out this connection via a file that loads and prompts the message - the file was called something like uhm.uh i worked this out with the timing of task manager... i found that file uhm.um on my hard drive, renamed it, uninstalled service pack KB936929 and am half alive to tell the tale.] but, i still have the ms icon in bottom rhs saying 'updates to install' - the yellow shield with the exclamation mark. Q1. how do i install this update (KB936929) without stirring up the sonic update manager trouble again as i am not sure i can face working out how to remove it again? do i need to update and, if not, then how do i stop the yellow shield icon from living in my box? and, Q2. why can't this update (KB936929) be installed of its own accord anyway? do i really want it? please send me an email directly and either let me know when and where to come back to on this great web site. thanks.
Great so far you have excellent work in analyzing the problem now, to stop a paitcular update from being installed you have to
1.Go to Control Panel
2.Open Security Center
3. Click Automatic Updates
4. Choose the Option saying "Notify me but dont autoamtically download or install them"
By doing so the update manager will evrey time ask you which updates to download and install you simply have to click on the chekbox to accept or reject them. (But do read the instruction with the updates that, what will be the changes otherwise you may miss some imporatant update?)
This is what i have been doing over the years any till now I dont have problem with the update manager.

click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
