What does SF mean on pool and spa pumps?

I just replace a 1.5hp 2-speed pump in my spa with a 2hp 2-speed pump.1.5 had a SF of 1.0,and the 2hp has a SF of 1.3.I think I know already why the new pump run out of water, but I'd like to hear it from an expert before I tear it down and replace a brand new pump. Thanks in advance Rick. PS I'm getting a trickle feeling of electricity when I touch the wet deck and the spa water.I know this isn't good[or safe].But the GCFI is installed correctly[so the electrican sayes]?

SF stands for Service Factor. It has to do with how much overload your motor can handle without damage. Here is some information about it:

You should not be feeling any "trickle" of electricity. You are correct...it is NOT SAFE! I would definitely have another qualified electrician check your wiring out.

Thanks for using Fixya.

I am trying to find a replacement for ann XP2

the 2" is inside diameter so you more than likely have a 2" suction/discharge. The motor is probably rated 5hp, especially since it is both a circulation and jet pump.

High speed spa pump shuts off

The motor may have a thermal cutoff if the motor draws too much current. Do you have a sufficient large gauge circuit supplying the motore? If not the actual voltage at the motor may drop, causing it to draw more current to make up for the loss of voltage, thereby tripping the motor's protective breaker. I assume the motor will start again after serveral minutes of cooling down.
