Check you owners manual for the emergency door release function and use it to open the door. usually thisis a small pin heole to release the mechanism, it could also be a slot under the unit. If this does not work , then take off the top cover of you unit and check the dvd carriage for possible dirt and obstructions, that are preventing the dvd drawer from working properly.ou can have a broken belt or some other out of alignment problems. While the unit is open you should clean out the dust and debris with a small brush and compressed air cleaning the unit . This will help in the unit over all operation. Hope this helps you with your problem.

GO VIDEO model 1030....VCR works fine...DVD..nothing happens...door won't even open?

Combo units have this essential flaw--if one half fails you are usually done especially if the DVD side fails.

If Door does not open either a disc is jammed inside the mechanism or the mechanism is out of alignment or damaged.

Good argument against buying these units--DVD individual parts are rarely sold--only (if available) would be the entire DVD unit itself--not cost effective to repair.

DVD players are now real cheap (see some for as little as $20) so if not a simple jammed disc or something like that buy a DVD player.

The machine will not open the DVD Drive. When I push the eject button the display indicates "OPEN" but nothing happens. Is there a way to open the drive manually?

No,if u forced it,will damges the little motor that help it to open the dirve door.Unplug the unit, hold the unit in ur hand tight over head shake it a few times, this will help, what caught inside that stop the drive door from opening.Wait like about an hour later to replug it back in the unit, will be resetting itself back to the factory setting, will help help the unit too.

I have a Toshiba SD2019U DVD player and the door won't open. When I turn it on, it makes a rumbling sound and displays "opening", then continues to rumble then changes to "closing" and...

i think there's a broken or loose gear.or someone put something small that stop the door from openning.
you can try to open the unit up and turn the power on
and check what hinders the door from openning.

DVD stuck in DVR5000

Some CD/DVD units have a manual opening mechanism, it looks like a small hole on the front of the unit, try using a needle or a metal rod that fits by inserting it into the hole and pushing it should open the unit in case it got stuck somehow. If afterwards it continues to work then all's good else you'll have to bring it to a workshop.
