First make sure your on at least a 20amp circut then plug into it directly.if that doesn't do it.if that doesn't do it you can get by the old scool way using very fine sand paper and clean very lightly till you can get a new contact box, also make sure your wire leads to the contacts are snug and clean.

Is there a fuse or breaker on a Panasonic CW1803SU Air Conditioner?

If there's no power up on the unit, you can check your breaker switch box to see if there's any tripped breaker switch. If so, turn it off, and turn it back on. In some cases a sub-panel is installed somewhere else to provide power to the unit. Normally that's where the breaker switch will be in that scenario. If after doing that it keeps on tripping it, or it just won't power up, then you might have some electrical components inside the unit that might be damaged, like a capacitor, or the compressor itself. Sometimes when the compressor breaks it stops turning and overheats, causing other parts to burn also. To fix this you will need to call a professional.

call the service co. who replaced compressor . they ether got a defective one or never replaced yours . (compressor is a motor and a pump sealed in a metal can suspended in oil on springs ) apparently yours has a broken one or more springs .allowing electrical field windings of the motor to come in contact with the case shorting out your breaker. solution new compressor!

I have a model #919.167200 5hp, 20gal. air compressor. It has been working great for years, but when I went to turn it on today it blew the breaker. I pulled cover and cleaned contacts on pressure switch,...

Hi dtsorrell...

If your somewhat of a mechanic/electrician then you can by-pass the pressure switch by hooking the color coded motor wires together with the incoming color coded wires from your power cord in the proper order.
Plug it in and then check to see if it blows the breaker again, if it does then it is your motor that is faulty.
Please take time to rate me.

My compressor quit working when i flip the on switch it does nothing any ideas what is wrong???

If the tank is full (pressurized): Nothing will happen when the switch is turned on. Bleed some air from the tank to see if the motor turns on when the pressure drops.

If the tank is empty or low on pressure: First check the circuit breaker to the outlet the compressor is plugged into. Next, somewhere on the compressor, usually on the motor, there is a circuit breaker. They are usually a small round white or black button that if tripped will stick out about 1/4 inch or more. Push that back in and check to see if your motor runs. The usual reason for these circuit breakers to pop is because the compressor is being run on an extension cord. Rule of thumb for compressors: run longer air lines, NEVER use extension cords. If it is absolutely necessary to run an extension cord it should be 10-guage and no longer than 25 feet.

My craftsman conpressor is a 5 gal type oil free. problem is when I plugged it in to operate it the moment I turn on the switch, it would run a few seconds and tripped my circuit breaker in the house for...

First, the simple answer - check the AMP draw on the compressor. It should be on the motor or compressor nameplate/tag. Even a small compressor can use alot of power, and blow the breaker if there are other things on a circuit.

Does it seem to run OK for as long as it runs?

Breaker switch tripped when ac compressor engaged

The power strip is rated too low for the wattage of the unit and that causes the breaker to trip. I would be better for the unit if it were plugged directly into a wall outlet, because there is less a chance of voltage drop which would burn out the unit. They will only tolerate 10% voltage drop before getting into trouble.

Breaker keeps tripping

Your compressor could be going bad. You would need to check to amp draw on the the leads coming out of the compressor. There is a maximum rating listed on data plate. Something simple could be that your condenser the out side part of the unit is dirty. All you have to do is turn off the shut off switch out side, get a hose and some dish soap and wash the coils. Be careful with the water presssure not to bend the fins. Or some thing even a lot of techs look over is the breaker is bad.
