Question about SanDisk Sansa m230 MP3 Player

1 Answer

Cannot see songs from My Computer

On my other computer (a couple of states away) when I connected my Sansa m230 to the PC, I could see the MP3 files.  On my new PC I see a fancy m230 icon, and a Record folder, but no MP3 files.  What's up?  And how can I change this?  I'm guessing there's a setting, since the files still exist.  Thanks.

I have the same problem. I can see the files only on one computer. All the computers I have tried can see that the sansa is full but can't see the music. I did put one song into the video folder and was able to see it on one other computer so far. Anyone have any ideas?

I have the exact same problem. I see that the sansa has some space taken from the mp3's, but I can't see the actual files, I can only see a "Record" folder and an XML file... How do we fix this?????????????

When I connect my m230 to my computer, it shows folders, but there is no content shown. The player has about 100 songs on it and I want to add more, but it shows nothing on it. I need the manual to make...

Sandisk Sansa players have had a bit of a history hiding some files away before. I believe if you were to disconnect your m230 and turn it on, you would still have that music available. If that is the case, it is most likely a problem with the USB transfer protocol.

If your music is still on there and can be played, there is actually nothing to stop you from transferring more songs onto your device. Once the files are loaded and the device disconnected, your m230 should update accordingly. The drawback is you cannot find and remove your old songs from your computer.

If that is what you want, try this:
With your Sansa disconnected from your computer, turn it on and navigate to the Settings Menu. Then select the USB submenu. There should be two options: Auto Detect and MSC. If one is selected, try the other and reconnect it to the computer. Check the folders and see if there is anything in them.

Worst case scenario is there was a glitch in one of the USB modes. A reformat, either by restoring factory defaults on your device or using your computer to reformat should start you from scratch.

I would recommend reading the manual for any other questions you may have. As with an increasing number of products, manuals are posted online by the manufacturers.

Hope this helps.

Sansa m230 not syncing music files or downloading them. Process leaves the Sansa m230 with 0 files and i am finding it impossible to load new file(s) ?

Try reflashing the firmware for your device you can find the latest firmware and flashing utilities from the manufacturer?s website. Make sure that you back your music up first because when you do this you are setting it back to factory settings. Then add music this way and see if it is works: 1. Free a USB port on your desktop computer. Now, grab the USB cable for your SanDisk Sansa MP3 player and connect the player to your computer. 2. Wait for your computer to find and recognize the player. This may take a few moments. Once you receive a confirmation message, open your computer and scan the icons for the SanDisk MP3 player. 3. Open the SanDisk Sansa MP3 player on your computer. The music files that you currently have saved to the player?s memory are displayed. 4. Open a folder containing music files that is stored in your desktop computer?s memory. Scan the files for songs that you want to transfer to the SanDisk Sansa MP3 player. 5. Left-click on a song file and drag to the SanDisk Sansa window. Drop the file and let your computer complete the transfer. The transferred file appears at the bottom of your music list. 6. Unplug your SanDisk Sansa player from your computer. Turn the player on and allow the file transfer to update to the internal memory of the MP3 player.

Check to make sure you stll have your driver for the player on your computer. If that does not work try reflashing the firmware for your device you can find the latest firmware and flashing utilities from the manufacturer?s website. Make sure that you back your music up first because when you do this you are setting it back to factory settings. After doing this if you still cant add music on your player try loading it this way: 1. Free a USB port on your desktop computer. When connected to your computer, go to your My Computer folder, and right click on your Mp3 player. You should see "Format Device". This wipes the entire thing. All music will be gone, but it might reset it.

Sansa m230 delete specific song from the player

Your SanDisk Sansa does not allow you to delete files from within the player.
Instead I recommend that you follow the steps below to delete the music
You have to make sure that the device is on MSC mode...then make sure your device is plug in to the computer1.gif..Then go to programs - accesories - windows explorer, find the SanDisk in my computer, go to media, music1.gif and delete them from there.
Either under sync panel in your windows media1.gif player it will show your music when it's connected. just click the plus signs for what song you need to get rid of, right click and click delete.
Hope this helps

P.S.Please rate accordingly...
Thank You
