In my view, ur motherboard doesn't support the new processor, so plz check the capability of your motherboard, and replace with the supported cPU. ok byee

Q9550 With Acer EQ35M MOBO

It is very likely that you simply do not have the right BIOS setup for the new processor. You will likely have to flash all your bios to get the new processor to both be recognized and to be able to recognize components on the motherboard. That is quite a jump in technology and it may be that the motherboard simply will not support the new processor period. In that case, be VERY careful buying your new board and make sure it specifically supports your processor. Sorry I could not be more help!

Which is fast??????

If you want the best band for your dollar in a quad core, I would say to go for either the Q9550 or if you have the money, the Q9650.  If you want a great performance to dollar ratio, the Core 2 Duos are a good option as well, with the E8500 and E8600 being the best.  Quad cores are not really being utilized right now, but they will be in the future, so it would be a more future proof upgrade to go with a good quad core.  If you do not want to spend a bunch of money but still get a quad, the Q6600 is still a great option in a quad for under $200.

Upgrading the cpu and heat sink and fan

Hi,
All the factory fitted CPUs are having such heat sinks as previously u were having.
Check on the backside there will be small plastic covers where screws fit these could be removed by screw driver but u can purchase that heat sink or can use previous heatsink as well if it is working.

Cpu enquiry

There really is no difference, there are differences in the E numbers though. Those are specificallt about it's GHz's, it L1 and L2 cache.

Though Intel Core 2 Duo is the same as Intel Dual Core. It's just a different name. This confusion is caused because of Intel changing the names of it's processors series. The Pentium brandname for example is gone. Intel Pentium Dual Core is now called Intel Core 2 Duo.

I hope this answered your question.

Are they compatible?

Hi, your cpu currently in the machine should be a 754chipset, only way you would be able to put a core duo processor in the machine would be to replace the motherboard, cpu, and probably the memory.. to DDR2

Have a good new year
