If your computer has a floppy drive, take the floppy out. If you have any USB hard drives or USB thumb drives attached to the machine, disconnect them and try them again. The message "missing ntldr" indicates that the BIOS has found a bootable volume like a floppy drive, but the drive doesn't have any operating system files.

Tldr is missing

I think you mead NTLDR is missing, consequently your pc won't boot properly, try this:-

1. Load Windows XP CD into CD drive.
2. Make sure BIOS is set to boot to CD drive.
3. Boot the computer from CD.
4. At menu, press "R" to load Recovery Console.
5. Select the installation to be fixed.
*The following instructions assume CD-ROM is labeled as drive D and the hard drive partition the windows installation is on is labeled as drive C. Replace the letters accordingly.
6. Type "COPY D:\i386\ntldr C:\" and press ENTER.
7. Type "COPY D:\i386\ C:\" and press ENTER.
8. Remove CD and type "EXIT" and press ENTER (to reboot your computer).

If you're still stuck, here's a web site with a more detailed explanation.

Will a windows xp boot disk fix a ndlr problem?

it is a possibility. you just have to try the repair installation from the disc. if not, then a full reinstall is required. It has been my experience that 90% of the time, you have to reinstall the OS.

NTLDR is missing

This problem may occur if the basic input/output system (BIOS) on your computer is outdated, or if one or more of the following Windows boot files are missing or damaged: Ntldr

So, verify whether the BIOS is up to date.

In this case, it's required to reinstall the Operating System as repairing this part may be a really tidious job.

You need to boot with your windows vista cd and select repair install. This will reinstall the windows files, including the ntldr file, leaving your data intact. Make sure you only do the repair install, if you do the full install, it may wipe your data.

Thanks and please take a moment to rate as fixya.
