This is because the version you have installed requires a license key to activate and you need to purchase one. However, if you just wanted to view and open PDF files, you can just download Adobe Reader from the list below which does not require you any license key.

your best bet is to contact the makers of SPSS with the serial number from the cd and explain the issue you are having. they will give you a new key or sort out the problem you are having with the license key you have.
