I had the same issue. This is what a did:
Turn off the machine
Remove the tray/container and leave it outside
Turn on the machine and this time the power button should be flashing (preheating) then hold both cup buttons for 3 sec and it will be back to normal opertion....
For some reason the sensor needs to read that the tray/container is out of the machine...

My machine started to do this just out of the blue! I tried everything in the troubleshooting guide, but nothing worked. I just rang the Nespresso Service Team and went through a bunch of steps with them - but still nothing. They said they would send a courier to fetch the machine but that it would cost $150 to fix it. Decided to check the web just in case I could try something else.
THANK YOU tish3030 - this did the trick. Just by taking out the tray/container and holding down the lungo button, it all came back to normal!! I had tried this several times but with the tray in place.
    Just saved $150!!

I just had the same problem and this solution wasn't working for me but when I called Nespresso they said to wait 60 seconds between actions (like holding down the buttons together for 5 seconds). Once I did this it responded!

Absolute legend! Thanks - I was descaling it with the tray out but the container I was using must have triggered the tray sensor somehow! Cheers :)

Just spoke with nespresso bc I had the same issue (on a citiz) and none of these things were working. the machine has overheated. you need to turn your machine off for 20 minutes to let it cool down. after 20 minutes, turn it back on, let it go through the warm up and then you can take it out of descaling mode by pressing the 2 buttons.

For me removing the tray worked, but I will also keep your tip in mind. It goes to show, sometimes its good to sleep on it. (or wait 20 mins).

Way to many buttons and combinations in the manual to operate. If someone can build a unit with just Lungo button and function the world would be a better place. Thanks for the simple fix, had the machine ready for the repair shop, now working like new.

Hi - I have an Essenza EN95. After descaling the lights kept on flashing (as in warm up mode) After several attempts I called Nespresso for help. They advised turn off the machine, hold both buttons for 3 seconds, turn the machine back on while holding the buttons (two person job unless you have big hands) after about 30 seconds it worked. Who would have thought of pressing buttons when the power is off??? Good luck!

Giaggia Brera descaling problem

Hi,
been talking to Gaggia (Philips) and they told me that with the newer Breras, you need to ill the water tank, put the machine into standby, then press the long and short cup buttons together for 6 seconds. This will start an auto descale programme (that they didn't mention in my manual!). A small amount of water will be dispensed through the coffee nozzles, then it will stop and the warning triangle and the prime warning light will come on. Place a large container under the panarello, then turn the knob to the right to dispense water. It will dispense about 50 - 100 mls (cold) water, then stop for about a minute. Just leave it and eventually it will empty the tank. Refill it and start again, but it will stop after a few seconds. Turn the knob back to central position, then it will dispense another small amount of water from the coffee nozzles, then stop with warning lights again. Turn the knob back right to dispense water, if it stops because of empty tank, just refill it. Eventually, the machine will stop and go to standby. Turn the knob back to the centre, refill tank yet again and the machine will start normally WITHOUT that descale warning light. HOORAY !!

Very slow water flow, barely filling tea cup

It could be a problem with an air bubble or with scale deposits.

It is recommended that you first run a descaling cycle using the proper descaling product. Do not use vinegar as it can damage your machine. Information on descaling can be found here:

Nespresso clitz's light is keep blinking. I pressed both button but not working, I turned it on and off and make sure wate container is placed correctly.

It sounds like you've put it into descaling mode. Hold down the "large" button for a second or two and water should start coming through. Press the large button again to stop it. Lift the capsule eject handle and put it back down. Then hold down both buttons for about 3 seconds to exit descaling mode.

When I hit the Americano button, it comes out like an espresso, not enough water comes through. I've just descaled. How to fix?

The amount of water is programmed by holding in the button. Put your cup below, and press the button. Keep holding until you are happy with the amount of water that came out - and then let go.
Next time you use it, you just need to do the normal short press on the buttom.
(Both the Espresso and the Lungo button can be programmed.)

Run an entire tank of water through the machine to clear out any remaning descaling solution. Once the tank is empty, you can turn off the machine, and it will exit the descaling mode automatically. Leave it off for a minute or two and then turn it back on, and it should run normally. Remember that the power light will blink while it is warming up when you first turn it on.

Where can I download the manual?

The manuals are available on the Nespresso website (www.nespresso.com). Click on the "machines" section, and then choose the le cube. Click on the details page (https://secure.nespresso.com/precom/sima/fiche__NESPRESSO_Le_Cube_D185__N_D185_1_us_en.html) and you should see the link for downloading the manual. You can also download the descaling instructions as well.
