Two potential issues here. The more common is that the filler valve is stuck in open position. Test by removing and using multi meter to test for resistance. If heavily corroded, this fill valves (usually cold and hot together) is a good thing to replace after several years, especially in locations with high mineral content water. You can also test by putting washer in "cold water" only mode on selector switch on facia. If the machine fills normally with cold water (you are isolating the hot water fill valve) then it is definitely the fill valve. Time to buy new one!
The second is that the water fill level sensor is stuck and not sending signal to (circuit) board to shut off flow of water.Once again, isolate the hot water by attempting to fill with cold. If the cold runs continuously, theen it is most likely water level switch. Check the tube from the base of the washer that threads up to the facia. If it looks unblocked, unpinched, and no holes, then the water level switch need to be detached and tested with a multi meter. There is no really good test for that switch. Many service techs carry around a known good one and hook it up. Blow into the niple here the tube was hooked up with medium force and see if it goes "pop". This is the diaphragm moving. By testing with a multi meter as you move the diaphragm you should get 0 resistance in both positions (popped and unpopped). If it passes this test your problem is lkely in the circuit board (no easy way to test without special equipment). But I'll bet it is the water fill valve.

Hi, If the washer is unplugged, does the hot water shut off? If not, then you need to change the water inlet valve.
If I can help you further, please let me know.

Thanks
Vic

I have a maytag bravos x mct washer. It will not pump cold water the hot water comes out not the cold any ideas?

If your washer doesn't go through the washer rinse cycle, the most likely cause is the water valve. What happens is the water valve will stop letting cold water into the washer; therefore, once the washer gets to rinse it will either stop or not do anything during the whole rinse cycle.
This is because when you selected your water temperature, you selected warm/cold or hot/cold. The hot water came in and you didn't notice any problems. When it got to rinse, the cold water the cold water won't come in. Therefore, the washer does nothing.
To check the water valve, first cut the water off and remove the hoses off the back of the washer. Then one at a time point the hoses inside the washer tub and turn the water back on. If you don't have good water pressure, turn the water back off and remove the strainer that should be in one end of the hose. Inspect the strainer to see if it is stopped up, clean it and reinstall it. Now repeat this test. If you have good water pressure now, reinstall hose and your problem is fixed.
If you still don't have good water pressure, the problem is in your house plumbing and you need to call a plumber. If you had good water pressure the first time you performed the test, the water valve is bad and needs replacing.
TIMER
If your washer doesn't go through the washer rinse cycle the timer may be the problem. Sometimes the timer gets stuck in the middle of the cycle or won't turn at all. If the washer runs, but the timer doesn't turn, the timer is bad and needs replacing.
Do you have anti-flood hoses leading to the machine. If you do there is probably a loose tube in the back causing a small leak. When the hoses detect that water is still flowing after a certain amount of time due to the leak it shuts down and causes the machine to turn off during the rinse/spin cycle
By the way my advice is free cuz God is good!

How do I test a used dishwasher before I install it?

Hi knowone has ever asked me that before but it can be done if you spend a little time You need to be near a power 120 volts plus water and a drain , if you look under your sink in your kitchen on the hot water valve you should be able to connect into the hot water , if you plan on hooking it up at this sink then go ahead and splice in a tap for water for the dish washer on the hot water you should buy a shut off type valve most times they use 3/8 , run the hose from the new water valve to the water valve on the dish washer then you need a drain that is the easy part run the drain hose from the dish washer right into your sink ,next you need power , down where the wires connect you will see a black wire and a white wire , if you have a old extention cord around that you can cut leave the end on that plugs into the outlet on the wall but cut the other end off , next open up the end of the cord to see the wires , if it has a green you dont need to use this for a quick test only if you want to , but hook up the black and the white then you should be all set to try it If i can help any more get back to me Frank

Hot water continues to run want cut off

Must be a bad water valve. Get it to day for $40 The chances of it being in the control or water level switch or temp switch is slim. Bad water valve. One way to prove it to be bad is to unplug the washer. If the water still enters then it is the water valve for sure.

I have hot water in my bathroom sink, but not to my shower/bathtub all of a sudden.I went and checked the line and felt it,still plenty hot.I turned the valve off and back on,came back inside and had hot...

You don't indicate what kind of valve(s) you have in your shower/bathtub.

It is sometimes the case, when you have separate hot and cold valves that use the traditional flat washer, the rubber/viton washer wears over time and actually becomes cut, such that a part of the washer protrudes from the valve face.

Hot water will cause the distorted washer to expand. Consequently, as more and hotter water flows through the valve, the washer expands to the point where it constricts the flow of hot water.

Replace the washer, at least on the hot water valve.

Hot water is cutting out after 2 - 3 minutes whilst showering

check the screen on the cold water intake on the cold side,, you might have to flush the system out, and do you have the shower head water restricter in, if not you may be using to much hot water,,, how many other hot water fixtures are running at the same time? try running just the shower,,,if this is a tank water heater the dip tube could be bad that is on the cold side it takes the cold water to the bottom of the tank and forces the hot water out,, if you ar only getting a couple of min of hot water and the dip tube is bad it is not going to the bottom but just at the top and not getting all the hot water you will need a plumber
