How do I open up the Kodak Instamatic M70 projector? It sounds like there's a piece of film caught in the gears.

I have a Kodak Instamatic M70 Super 8 movie projector. How can I stop the film from continously jumping? I have adjusted every nob and looked inside to find nothing out of the ordinary.

Right from the Owner's Manual, processed films are generally lubricated and to prolong their life and assure smooth, quiet projection, they should be cleaned and relubricated periodically. Use KODAK movie Film Cleaner ( with Lubricant ),Available from your KODAK dealer.

Occasionally a film may not be lubricated by the processor. Lack of lubrication can cause unsteady pictures. If this occurs, lubricate film.

I have a minolta autodual 8 film projector but the front reel is turning backwards in the wrong direction. How do I change the direction to turn in the same direction as the back reel.

I assume you haven't put a reel of film onto the projector and looped it through to the back spool. The front spool usually 'freewheels' whilst the film is pulled through the projector and taken up by the motor driven rear spool.
It is possible that the friction drive and/or drive belt have deteriorated with age, as the mentioned projector is a rather elderly 'classic' of the dual 8mm series.
If in doubt, don't risk your family pictures. Try the unit with an old piece of film on small spools.

Contact the Eastman House in Rochester, NY for a possible lead for a repair manual and/or a qualified repair person. I will tell you that Kodak has not had parts for Pageant Projectors in about 20 years - - - but many authorized repair dealers may still have some!!

There is a small plastic gear that disintegrates with age on these units. The gear is worn and cannot turn the larger gear to thread the film. Good luck finding parts. There is one place that sells parts but I think they gauge the public
