Question about General Electric Microwave Oven

1 Answer

This "Nuker-oven" (GE Microwave Oven, Model JE 2800 001) is plugged in to a working electrical outlet, but no light, no fan, no keypad, no timer, no noise, and, of course, no heat. Might there be a simple solution, or do we consider 20-plus years all we can expect?

Fuse located under the cover. pull the four side screws, 7 or so back screws, slide cover back about an inch or so then lift off. fuse holder is located on top, about 5.00 to replace (had to buy whole pack.

The microwave doesn't have power

Sounds very much like the magnetron is at the end of its life , if everything else on the oven is working but you don't get that familiar hum as the magnetron kicks in and I am afraid they can cost as much as a new oven especially with the repair cost , time to go to the store and get a new one it will probably be cheaper ... Has power to unit but nothing works, ie. oven, clock, timers, etc

If you don't see any light in the display or from the light bulb inside it you probably need to replace the fuse inside the microwave, it should be by the place where the cord goes in the microwave.

No power

The problem is most likely in the door latch circuitry. This is an expensive repair. Consider replacing the unit. If the door latch is not repaired correctly, very dangerous microwave energy can be released. This is not a do-it-yourself project. New ovens are very reasonable.

GE Microwave Spacemaker oven, Model JVM240

That would almost certainly be a problem on the control circuit board. If the bulbs happen to short / blow out or if they are removed or installed while the microwave is still plugged in, there is often an arc which causes damage to the board. We repair regularly these boards for such problems for $32.50 nationwide.
