Krups FBC5 unresponsive

Stuck on either time or "toast," buttons do not do anything. Unplugging does not help. There must be a reset on this thing. Anyone know where?

Had the same problem. I ended up taking it apart and cleaning the knobs. Wasn't to hard to do. Remove a dozen or so screws. Unplug the control board and remove it. Wash and dry all of the knobs and re-assemble. Worked great since.

The toast button does not work properly anymore, guessing there is something wrong with the contact?

My toast button did that for a while then got better. Also, try holding the button in for a few seconds instead of a fast hit.

Door Replacement

  1. To fix a cocked door, open the door and loosen the screws securing the inner panel. Hold the door at the top and twist it from side to side to seat it securely on its hinges.
  2. Partially tighten the door screws; do not overtighten screws on a porcelain door because the surface may chip.
  3. Test the seal by inserting a piece of paper between the seal and the top corners of the oven. The seal should tightly grip the paper.
  4. To replace cabinet-mounted springs, remove the storage drawer and the oven door. Unhook and replace the springs. Replace both springs even if only one is broken.
Hope that helps..........

Toast button sticks and sometimes does not function. Sometimes it will work if it is jiggled.

I had the same problem which was getting worse. Eventually I took the oven apart by removing the feet, shell and front. Then I removed the circuit board on the front panel which has all the switches on it. We never use the "Defrost" function, so using a soldering iron, I swapped the "Toast" switch with the "Defrost" switch. The Toast function now works normally. I plan to get some spare switches for the next time one of these goes wrong. While I had one of them out I checked it out and a Panasonic P/N EVQ-PAE05R available from Digi-Key P/N P12192S-ND looks like it will do the trick.
