Question about Washing Machines
When I start my washing machine it fills with water and all appears well but the drum doesn't turn. I've taken the top off and tracked a loud humming noise to be coming from the motor. Does this suggest it
needs replacing or could it need new brushes? Thanks for any help, cheers, NeilC
Hotpoint aquarius 1000 if motor is connected (plastic plug in socket) RCD earth trip trips in main board when washer is switched on, trips as soon as water starts to fill.

The motor is shorting, it could be faulty brushes if you are lucky. Look at the wires in the plastic connector to make sure they are not sooty from burning. I had to rewire one on my machine.
