Question about Parks Optical 13.5hp Briggs And Stratton Intek Lawn Mower Engine
I have a B&S model 28Q777 type 0642-A1 code: 960920ZD on a Simplicity Regent Hydro 16. After start-up the exhaust begins spewing white smoke. I pulled the engine but have not tore it down until I have a direction to head in. There is no hesitation or other problem that I have noticed. The motor runs good aside from the white smoke.
White smoke is oil burn off. First off, check the oil level (sounds dumb, I know) and make sure the oil is not overfilled. Overfilling would be the easiest solution. If there is oil burning onto the spark plug but the oil is not overfilled, I would think rings... possibly scarring in the cylinder. Something allowing the oil to seep past the piston into the head. If the cylinder is scarred, there are .020 oversized pistons and rings available for the engines, rebore the cylinder and place those in.
