Question about HP Pavilion dv6000z Notebook

3 Answers

My HP Pavilion dv6000's sound system is not working anymore. The mute option on the touchpad is stuck. Every diagnostic I've run says the audio is fine. I've tried to do a system restore and now the system restore doesn't work either. My little grandson loves to watch himself on videos on my computer and he's coming tomorrow. Please help.

This is a common problem, the cable that connects the button board to the system board goes bad. Usually but not always the power button stops working as well and the speakers. Replacement cables can be purchased on eBay or from: www.2fix.net. Its fairly easy to replace the cables.

Its a known problem with this laptop, everything appears to be working , but you get no sound from the speakers though the headphone jack works fine.
If you press down on the casing near to the power button and the sound comes on then you have a loose contact/ribbon cable fault which these laptops are prone to.
As to the "Fix" either use a set of external speakers or take it into a repairer to get it fixed,
If it's still under warranty then you have a claim.
Cheers, adrian.

Firstly, calm down.
Secondly, you need the drivers from HP, go to hp.com and find your drivers.
Thirdly, it needs to be compatible with it, otherwise it will be in risk.

HP pavilion dv6000 speakers wont work

If you've check the Audio and Sound properties in the Device Manager then maybe the speakers are shot. Click Start/Control Panel and look for Sound or Audio and check the properties and settings. You can also click the Megaphone at the bottom right near the time. Make sure the Volume is turned up and not on Mute.

You can look on ebay and purchase replacement speakers based on a HP DV6000 Speakers search. You'll have to take the laptop apart to install them.

You could try downloading and reinstalling the Audio Drivers.

Get online and got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "HP Support" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operating system when requested. Download and install the Audio drivers.

Try using the VLC Player. It comes with drivers and codec. I've seen it solve many sound issues.

Try using VLC as your player. Go to www.google.com and in the search box type "download vlc" (without the quotes). Look for the Video Lan download from site www.videolan.org/vlc Download and install it. It downloads and installs in 3 minutes or so. It's a very fast player, smooth and it can play just about any type of dvd formats and media. It's totally FREE.

No sound on my hp pavillion dv6000

Dear Vahomerep, First of all, make sure that your sound output is not muted. If it is in normal mode i.e. unmuted then please check your audio driver is installed properly and it is the correct one for your device. If you found any discrepancy in the audio driver then please remove it from the control panel - add remove programs and then reinstall the correct driver for your device. If the problem still occurs then please take your DV6000 to a specialist/expert.

Thanks

No souds

is the mute button above the keyboard pressed? Are you running windows 7? Does the soundcard show up in your device manager? Also, on windows 7, the volume mixer provides separate channels for applications, rather than devices as in xp. Click the volume icon, open mixer, and check to see if the internet and other applications are muted. I use a DV6000 and this caused me trouble since this computer had a bad GPU that I fixed, which causes the ssound to stop working when it goes bad. The computer ended up being fine, I had simply forgot about the mixer.
If that doesn't work, try re-installing the sound drivers. If that doesn't work, you might have a faulty BGA (nvidia) chip, which will have to be reflown.

I have a HP Pavilion dv7-1232nr, the mute button and the wireless button on the top touch pad has quit working along with the volume slider. Any suggestions?

My mute button on my hp pavilion dv7-1262us stopped working after I updated my IDT High-Definition Audio CODEC through Microsoft update. The volume worked but the button stayed orange. I went to Device Manager- Sound, video and game controllers then IDT Audio CODEC. Click the Driver tab then click the Roll Back Driver button. This rolled the driver back to an older version but it fixed the problem. This is a Vista machine. Hope this helps.

Hp laptop, dv6000 series..volume button gone pink!

Usually when the volume button is pink(orangey) it means that the volume has been muted. Make sure both on the quick play bar right of the power button and in the task bar, that the volume has not been set to mute. Also check the audio drivers and make sure the drivers haven't been corrupt and reinstall or re-download new updated drivers in needed.

The easiest way to fix that is : try to do a " system restore" I don't mean restore windows. I mean , revert windows about a day before your sound was working properly. If you have saved anything in your computer between then and now, I recommend you backing up these files. If it does not work, let me know

let me know if you need instructions how to do the steps
best luck
