DVD region hack available?

If you suffer from region code troubles, you can download a region free DVD player software tool on your pc and then you can play discs of any regions you want. You can try Leawo Blu-ray Player which is a free Blu-ray player and a region free player.

I know dvd player can not play Blu-ray but is not the Samsung dvd hd870 different. It reads 1080i.

That refers to the video output - your player is capable of upscaling: it transforms, without changing the quality of the image itself, the resolution from SD (480i) to HD (1080i).

Our Canon video camera will record in both HD and SD. We've recorded all of our video in SD so far and I burned some of it onto the Canon DW 100 burner and I can't get it to play on my DVD player. please...

You should burn your videos to a video format that should be compatible with your DVD player to get play. Some video formats will not be able to play to a certain DVD if the DVD player does not support it. You should burn your videos to VCD format to avoid problem because almost DVD nowadays have backward compatibility for all VCD movies. Hope this could help you..Please don't forget to rate me..:-) Thanks..

Dvd's aren't fitting my screen, the sides and top/bottom is being cut of. I've tried the display menu, zoom, and making it widescreen, and it doesn't work.

Are you playing wide-screen movies on a 4x3=1.33:1 (standard=SD) TV? DVD output by default is SD. Even 16x9=1.78:1 (HD) movies with have top and bottom bars. Many "wide-screen" DVDs are squeezed horizontally so that you have to stretch them. Many theatrical releases are up to 2.7:1 or so. Side bars indicate you have the DVD output set for 4x3 and your TV is HD-like. There are usually controls for the screen format on HD TVs--no controls on SD TV. Hey, early movies were 1:1--take them side bars. More on aspect ratio (AR) in Wiki, I bet. With letterbox of SD you can get "pillar box" with black on all 4 side. Get a better source and/or choose a different AR. -Ken

HD is not HDMI. An HD disc needs an HD DVD player.

Samsung dvd player ht-dm150 (watching movies)

It is most likely that the laser is not a problem because it can read the first part of the disk. If the laser is defective, it willn ot recognize the disk. The problem is probably the seek mechanism. It can only access the inner tracks but cannot read the tracks further from the center.
