Created secure network see it using wireless on laptop key info

I created a secure network using a dl-524 airplus G54 and is visible to me on my laptop but I can not access it. I've put the key in but must've wrote it wrong. Can I delete the existing network I created and redo it? Or is there a way for me to access it on my desktop and change the key manually?
your suggestion? Additionally, have lost the ability to use IE internet explore in both laptop and desktop after downloading IE8. Now only shell comes up, so am using Firefox and now can not access my emails. Basically out in left field - am a turn on and use type of user, so very limited knowledge.

Srry for the harrasment,u can do 1 thing..if u have a desktop computer connected directly to the router u can find the ip address of teh router and can go into the router setup page and change the security key,,or else u can connect an extra cable from ur laptop to the router and can enter the router page as well.
on ur desktop computer go to control panel-network connection-Local area connection,,if it says connected double click and u will find a box coming up with 2 tabs,,general and support,,click on support and find default gateway,,it shud typicall start with 192.168.x.x{depending on the class of ip address},then open up mozilla and type in the address at the top address bar.a small box with username and passwrd comes up.put"admin "in username and dnt put anything in passwrd field,,hit enter,,if the same box comes up then u had changed the passwrd during setup of the router{in tat case u have to call up the router manufacturer and do a hard reset of teh router and reconfigure the router to ISP settings}otherwise if u see a dlink window coming up,,that means u r in,,u search for wireless security and u will find the WEP key or the WPA key which is the network security key,,write it down exactly as it is as it is case sensitive

plz giv a good rating and best of luck

I have a new lap top which is recognising the wireless network and then asking for a network security key. How do I find this?

The network security key is essentially a password that was setup to control access to your network. Presumably, when you set it up you gave it a password that you could remember, but not so obvious that people could easily guess. If you've forgotten or lost the password, you can reset the router by using a paperclip and holding the reset button for about 10-15 seconds. Once you reset the router, it will be restored to its original factory defaults and you can then setup again your wireless networking.

I've had a new laptop but require my security key, model WBMR-G54 to access the security enabled network, from my old laptop.

If you've forgotten the wireless security key you entered when you set up the router you can reset it by connecting to the router directly with an ethernet cable instead of the wi-fi. Plug a cable into the router and then laptop and access the setup page for the router. See the manual (or download one from the buffalo site) for setup instructions.

How i make my dl-524 wireless router to secure

To secure the wireless network , you will need to access the router set up.
Do you have any computer connected to the router with the ethernet cable.
If you do not have the computer connected to the router, then connect one computer to the router.
Do not try this on the wireless computer.

Lost network key

there should be a sticker on the router with a alphanumeric key of around 13 characters......i would recommend writing this key down and taping it underneath your mouse pad for easy access. GOOD LUCK AND PLEASE RATE THIS POST!! :D

Can't connect with my router

This can often be an issue with security encryption. There may be a wrong key entered or the client adaptor does not support the encryption used.
To try and solve this first change the SSID on your wireless router (get access user=admin pass= blank (no pass) (default)) so your laptop will be forced to create a new profile. Then set security to basic WEP 64bit and try to connect again.

Update the wireless adaptors drivers.
If you have any third party Firewalls, try and temporarily disable them to make sure they aren't blocking it.
