A duster, air compressor or powerful vaccum or leaf blower etc would do the job, but I'd say this wouldn't normally cause the freezer to stop working. Cheers

Samsung RF25HMEDBSR bottom freezer fridge. Fridge is at right temp.,ice maker works, but the bottom freezer is not working.

The condenser coils are usually located under the refrigerator. They dissipate heat as refrigerant passes through them. If the condenser coils are dirty, they won't dissipate the heat effectively. As debris builds up on the coils, the refrigerator/freezer becomes less efficient, causing it to work harder to cool down. If the coils are significantly dirty, it will not be able to maintain the proper temperature. Check the condenser coils to determine if they are dirty. All models have coils in an enclosed area usually accessible via a vented cover at the back of the refrigerator. These coils help to keep the refrigerator and freezer cool. If these coils become too dirty from dust or other particles, the freezer may not work as efficiently.
unplug when taking the vent panel off to clean. bottle brush or a vacuum attachment be careful not to bend aluminium fins.

My figidaire freezer fans runs almost all the time

Your problem could be as simple as dirty condenser coils or a burned out condenser fan. These components are on the bottom of the refrigerator and removing a couple of panels should give you access to them. Clean dust and dirt off the coils and check to see if the bottom fan is running when the refrigerator is running.

You'd be surprised how often this simple fix will get you back up and running. Dirty coils make the refrigerant system VERY inefficient, sometimes to the point that the refrigerator has to run almost constantly to acheive the desire temperatures inside the refrigerator.

I need to know how to get to the motor coils to clean the dust off of them. The space is so small I can't get to them. Could you send me a Owners Manual? Or just the page of how to clean the coils.

Why is my compressor running all the time and not getting colder than 44 degrees

More than likely the coils are dirty. The coils need to be clean for the refrigerator to cool properly. On some refrigerators the coils are on the rear and others the coils are underneath. They sell a special brush at most hardware stores and grocery stores. I see them for sale all the time at the "big box" stores. I prefer to use my air compressor with a long blower attachment to reach underneath and blow the dust and "wooly bugers" off. I set the pressure regulator on the air compressor to 40 psi. The only thing is the dust and crud go everywhere but the coils are left really clean. This needs to be done about every 3 months, at least..

The temperature is reading about 30 degrees in the freezer bottom. refrigerator portion is ok.

The compressor cycle is controlled in the fresh food compartment. Cold air is forced from the freezer compartment to the fresh food compartment. The air flow is controlled by the fresh food temperature dial.

One of the most common causes of refrigerator inefficiency is dirty condenser coils. These are located on the bottom of the refrigerator behind the front kick panel. A small fan (usually in the back of the unit behind the coils) draws air over the coils to cool them and condense the freon back to a liquid to be recycled through the refrigeration loop. You would not believe how much dust and dirt can accumulate on these coils in a relatively short period of time.

If the coils are dirty, they prohibit air from carrying off the heat and the freon is not fully condensed, thus when it reaches the evaporator, the heat carrying capability of it is severely diminshed. Cleaning the condenser coils is a free (albeit somewhat dirty) fix and you wouldn't believe the difference it can make. I've seen coils so dirty I could literally grap handfuls at a time. Special brushes are made for this task, but anythng is better than nothing. A vacuum is recommended so that you're not just spreading the dust and dirt around, but actually removing it.

A slight possibility is that the condenser fan (the one that pulls air over the coils) is burned out. See if you can see it from the front or if not, pull the refrigerator out and remove the back panel. You can also get to the back of the coils better from the back. The coils are usually a horizontal V-Shape, which makes them all the more difficult to clean since they are so close to the floor and the bottom of the interior shell.

Good luck. I hope this free fix helps. You'll be AMAZED at the impact this will have on the refrigerator's operation, and it'll also save you money since the compressor running at top efficiency will no longer need to run as long.

Problem with hussmann chest freezer

If the freezer is not located in an area where grease vapors are present the unit can be cleaned off using a vacuum cleaner. Then use a flash light to look through the coils. If you see dust embedded deep inside use a small air compressor to blow out the dust. Dirty condenser coils raise the pressures and temperatures in the system. Cleaning the coils and scheduling them to be clean at quarterly intervals should keep it functioning for a long time. Operating with a restricted condenser takes its tole on the compressor life span.
