I want to delete some programs on my laptop. How do I know if Microsoft works with any of the programs I want to delete.

My laptop is very slow and I know I need to delete some of the stuff that is on it but I am afraid if I do I may delete something important that would be used for windows or in Microsoft. I did that once before and lost a lot of stuff.

Often times, the best solution is to back up all your important documents and use the system restoration disks to restore your laptop back to its factory settings.

If that's not an option, be VERY careful deleting random files. I recommend doing the following:
- Go into the control panel and uninstall programs that you don't use.
- Download and install CCleaner (http://ccleaner.com). It's a safe way to remove temp files, your internet cache, etc.
- Download and install Ad-Aware Free (http://www.lavasoft.com) Run it, and make sure your system is clean of spyware / adware.

Good luck!

Backup all your files - word documents, spreadsheets, music and (most important to me as they can't be replaced) - Photographs. Then reinstall windows from your recovery disks you got with the laptop.

tip

Tuneup utilities prefetch data deleted windows 7 slow

Basically, the prefetcher is a Windows component that speeds up the boot process and start times of programs by prefetching data.

I recommend you never delete the prefetch data.

If you or another program delete prefetch data or the folder, this can slow the computer down until the prefetch data is rebuilt. Windows rebuilds this each time on reboot and during program start ups.

If you are using a cleanup utility, turn off any options that delete prefetch data. In CCleaner, this option is unchecked automatically. TuneUp 10 does not have an option for prefetch data and does not seem to delete this data. You may receive a message when using the program that states, "prefetch data deleted" which is informing you the prefetch is empty.

I have Microsoft Office 2003 on my Toshiba laptop PC, Windows home XP. A friend installed Microsoft Picture Manager, which I've been trying to uninstall but cannot. I don't find it in any programs that can...

Do a system restore. Click start, all programs, accessories, system tools, system restore. Follow the instructions to restore to a date prior to the install of MPM. You will not lose any new files but you may have to update your antipvirus program.

My Netbook is slow than usually,, how can faster it?? Acer Aspire One 532h-2Bb

#1 Make sure your laptop is free from virus, spyware and trojan. A virus or spyware can make your laptop run slow or even damage the whole system. Run a security scan to find out if there are infection files hidden in the system. The slow laptop would be fixed by eliminating the virus.
#2 Remove obsolete programs to release more hard drive space. Laptop slow problem sometimes would be caused by the less hard drive space. To optimize your slow laptop, you can try to delete those unneeded programs, files from the hard disk especially the system disk.
#3 Empty the Recycle Bin to retrieve more system resource. Your laptop slow symptom maybe arises due to the deleted files in the Recycle Bin. If you forget to empty the Recycle Bin, those files in fact still exist on the hard drive and keep eating up your laptop system resource so that the laptop will run slow.
#4 Scan and fix Windows registry. Do you know how important registry is in Windows system? Corrupted, invalid or malicious registry will slow down your laptop and make it run unstable. You would receive many error messages such as dll errors, Internet Explorer errors or blue screen of death in the using of laptop. Thus, it is necessary for you to fix your slow laptop by cleaning registry errors.

Try deleting all unwanted files like Temp files, disk clean up, disk defragmentation.

My laptop process is very slow when it is started

There are many things you can do to speed up your laptop:
1. Try going to the control panel add/remove programs (or a variation thereof depending on your operating system) and removing programs that you dont use anymore.
2.If you have more than one hard drive (as in when you click my computer you have a C drive and possibly a D drive move any documents or large files over to the D drive.)
3.To speed up start up try clicking the start button and going to run, typing msconfig, and then clicking the startup tab. Uncheck anything that you know you dont need at startup i.e(microsoft office and things like that )

Here is an article with more steps for things you can do.

Microsoft Word 2003 program is slow in opening and closing docs

Is your disk-drive getting "close" to being full?
That could cause "slow" file-opening and file-saving actions.

Or, find your original Microsoft CD-ROM for the software, and the matching 25-character license-key.

Then, use Add/Remove Programs to "uninstall" MS Word.

Restart your computer, and reinstall the software, using the CD-ROM and the license-key.

Access "Microsoft Update" to get all the latest fixes & security-patches for MS Word.

My laptop is very slow

Hello

If you can go online then please download these three programs. AVGFREE.exe, Malware Bytes.exe and Superantispyware.exe. Run these and see how much garbade you've found. Then I want you to download cleanup.exe. This will delete the rest of the garbage. After all this your computer should be pretty peppy. If not email me back and I have other solutions.
