When turned on, it shows picuter and sound for a few minutes (1-3 minutes). Then de picture disapears. If you wait a minute then vertical bars show up on the screen. I've replaced the T-con and it did'nt help. The backlights still work when the picture disapears.
I think the electronics inside it have failed. My guess is that because its the picture only, it will fail in the same way if you play dvd into it for the same amount of time. The failure happens after it has warmed up, if you take it out into the cold you may get 1 minute more before it fails.
It needs replacing, its not cost effective to repair something like this, the failed parts may have partially damaged other parts in the unit so they could fail after a repair.

Could be the signal board has a bad cap, in this case it sounds like you are getting intermitten power to the inverters....when the tv goes down and of course you have audio....Shine a flashlight on to screen and see if you have a picture...look carefully. If this is the case..you have the above problem!

There are two places to look for the problems, the backlight inverter board and the power supply. Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc.
