I have a nikon d3000 whith an 18-200mm tamron lens now here is the problem sometimes when its all ready to make pic focus everything works i halfpress the button and it wont lock or let me make a pic...

This problems sounds like you are trying to take pictures too close to your snakes. These lenses do have a limitation and usually you need to stand at least about 6 feet away from your subjects. If you are using a Macro lens then you can be closer; but the lens must be set to macro or have this feature. If you think you maybe having some type of focusing issue then I suggest you contact Photo Tech at www.phototech.com because they are the authorized Nikon service facility.

Good Luck

I have brought this camera. trying to read up the manual. my question is. if i leave the camera set to the automatic selection. will I get as good a pic if i used the "P" selection..

You can get excellent results with the camera in Automatic vs. P which stands for programmable.
Also, if you have the camera in the M mode which stands for Manual then you can do closeup Macro pictures.

WHY WON'T THE CAMERA ZOOM ALL THE WAY?

HI,
The only thing I can determine looking at the camera, is that it may possibly be in the "Macro" (closeup) mode, or the "Super Macro" mode (closeup meaning inches away from the object).
On page 40 of the User manual it instructs which button to push and what the symbol looks like in the viewfinder. On many cameras if they are in the macro mode, it limits your ability to zoom, out or in.
Here is a link to the manual in case you need it.
Hope this helps you.
Best Regards,
Mark

Im trying to take closeup pics of jewelry, which is the reason I purchased this 12x zoom. I am using the super macro feature but my pics are blurry. Can you give me any tips? Deb

In super macro mode, there is a minimum focussing distance. Any closer, and you have no hope of locking in a focus. So, be sure you don't go past this point.Close up pics have a very shallow "depth of focus" meaning that very little in front or behind what you focussed on will be in focus. Is anything in focus in your pics? If you can exert some manual control over lens openings, you could try using a smaller opening to get more of your subject in focus. When taking close-ups, always use a tripod.

Use of macro digital feature

hi,let me just inform u that the macro mode is only for outdoors. So on the side of the camera u will find a sliding switch.Just slide it to the opposite direction to turn off the macro mode.Since u wanted to take pictures of jewelry pieces, turn on the flash if u have one and then take a closeup shot with good lighting conditions. If its too bright then use only the flash,if u r not satisfied with the quality then use only lights and then take a pic.Still face any prob plz get back to me.

Canon Powershot S2 IS Super Macro mode

Make sure your camera isn't zoomed in (full telephoto) The camera can't handle both full zoom AND super macro. Don't forget super macro goes from Zero to 20cm from the lens. Zoom completely out and you should be able to see something within that range. The biggest complaint I've heard about the S2 IS is if you take closeups of bugs the chances of the bug crawling onto your lens is pretty good.:-) Be very carefull of blocking light with the lens at extreme closeup too. Although the flash squelches well to allow for closeups it can leave a nasty shadow. If you're really serious about macro you'll find a ring flash would come in handy. BMW
