wifi
Most new laptops are equipped with all the components necessary to go online wirelessly to account for the increasing popularity of Wi-Fi Internet.

If you find that you are not able to connect to any wireless networks on a laptop, take a few basic troubleshooting steps on your own before having the laptop serviced.

In all likelihood, you will be able to restore your laptop's wireless functionality and be browsing Wi-Fi Internet in no time.

Enable the wireless card by pressing the radio button, typically located near the top of the keyboard.

Press the radio button until a light illuminates indicating that your wireless card has been enabled and is ready to go online wirelessly.

Test your connectivity once again; if there is still no wireless access, it is time to check for a possible issue with your wireless card.

Navigate to the computer's device manager by opening the "Start" menu and either clicking "Device Manager" from the "Control Panel" window or right-clicking "My Computer," clicking "Properties," and choosing "Device Manager" from the "Hardware" tab, depending on what version of operating system you use.

Look for the wireless card in the Device Manager by clicking the "+" next to "Network Adapters." If you see any item labeled "Wireless Card" or "Wireless Controller," check to see if it has a "?," "X," "!" placed over the name; if it does, you will need to update the software drivers for the wireless card. Contact the manufacturer of the computer for assistance.

Attempt to connect a wireless network other than your home network. Make sure you connect to a wireless network that you are legally allowed to use, such as a free public Wi-Fi hotspot, and that you are not illegally connecting to someone else's wireless network.

If you can connect to other Wi-Fi networks, the problem is likely isolated to your home network and you will need to troubleshoot that.

If you are still can't connect to any Wi-Fi networks after following the steps above, you may need to have the laptop serviced or have its wireless card replaced.

Afer i reformat my lenevo 3000 g430 i can't connect anymore to a wifi connection

Hi Welcome to FixYa!
Have you already installed the drivers for your computer? If not yet, it could be the reason why you are not able to use your wifi. Follow these steps so that you could know what to do next:
1)check the device manager in Windows: A)if you are using Windows 7 or Vista: -click on Start, then on the searchbox, kindly search for Device Manager and open it. You should have something like this: mondimondz_1.png
B)if you are using Windows XP: click on start>run>type devmgmt.msc and it will open the device manager Window.
2)If you will find a category that says Other Devices, kindly look for a item that says "Network Controller" if you find it, it means that the Wifi adapter on the comptuer is not yet installed. All you need to do is insert the drivers disc CD if one came with the computer when you bought it. If not, you could try connecting the laptop to the modem directly using a cable and download the driver from Lenovo's support website: www.support.lenovo.com

3)If you still cannot connect with a direct connection, the Ethernet adapter could have been not yet installed also. You could also check it on the Device Manager window and look for Ethernet Controller under Other Devices. or check the category Network Adapters and see if the Ethernet Adapter is installed.
4)if the drivers are already installed, you can try contacting your Internet Provider or call Lenovo's Technical Support Team.
hope this would be a big help!

Same BS wifi problem as everyone else

Have you tried restoring the computer back a couple of days to see if that clears up the hardware hiccup? You can also go to device manager and uninstall the device and delete the drivers. Turn the laptop off, take the wireless card out. Start the laptop back up and boot it fully....After a few, shut down again. Install the wireless card and restart the laptop. When asked to install the drivers for new device found, say ok, make sure you are online with an ethernet line so windows can go online and load the newest drivers unless you have them on your C drive already.

Network Adapter/Ethernet Controller

Nothing wrong with having two network adapters installed on your computer. If you have this DWA-552 wireless adapter installed as well as an onboard NIC, the correct thing to do is have both drivers installed so you see them both in your Control Panel->Network Connections window.

If you really want the onboard nic to go away, go into device manager and disable it - not uninstall it.
