Question about ASUS P5NSLI (0610839134670) Motherboard

No video on monitor ?

Just finished building a desktop around an asus p5nsli motherboard w/ rocketfish 700w ps, intel core 2 duo cpu, 1gb of ram (512x2) and dual layer optical drive. now at first I thought I could get video from the motherboard itself, wrong! needed a videocard, so i bought an geforce galaxy 7400 card so i could have the right pin input for my monitor which is a dell 19'' that was given to me. installed the card on my board turned it on for the first time and everything turned on except the monitor. I tyred to press a couple of buttons and the monitor said "sleep mode use mouse etc." please tell me what i can do to solve this problem

Try testing the hardware connections. Often it's as simple as a backwards IDE cable for the hard drives/cdroms, but if that isn't the case, start from nothing. Remove one of the two RAM sticks and all devices, (drives, CD-roms, anything that isn't needed to boot)
Let me know what this turns up.

One bad/faulty lead can cause a computer with lots of problems
replace all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA and the ones that attach from your motherboard to hard drive
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they are probably old and faulty ?
hope this helps

HI,

The only Thing To Do, is view both Motherboards, user Manuals.
To see The boards CPU Support List.
It could be to do with, certain Motherboards Supporting, certain CPUs.
I.e a 533mhz cpu, would not run on a Motherboard that supports 400mhz. The Systems Bios, May cause Other Problems.
If your getting a Black Screen, is it a possible Graphics/Ram Problem, Rather Than The CPU ??

No display

Hi,
Beep codes are usualy heard when there is a problem with either your display card or your RAM.

Your problem could possibly be a faulty CPU.
Does your CPU work in another board, or can you try another CPU in your board?

Asus P5N-E SLI Mobo will not boot or post.

Hi bart, please re-check you're memory. See page 1-17 in you're user manual. (Read everything)!
You're Asus board can not use 184-pin DDR DIMM's.
Also check the QVL list for supported memory page's 1-18 & 1-19.
I did not see Corsair on either page.
You're board can only use 240-pin DDR2 memory. Please read the "Notes" at the top of page 1-18.
If everything (Regarding memory) is within the Asus specifications than clear the cmos/bios & re-boot again. If you're system still does not boot than remove one DIMM & try again.
Asus warrants their boards for three years. Call Asus tech at
1-812-282-2787 EST, IL 8:00AM to 5:00PM. The call is on you but the service is free. It's worth every dime.

Good Luck & Kind Regards.
Would you be kind enough to let me know what Asus suggested? (If it comes to that).

Mike

No Display on boot up

When a motherboard does not beep that isnt good news and its either the Motherboard or CPU. Have you fot the FSB settings correct on the board? Is your power Supply Good? Does your graphics card need power and is it plugged in? Unfortunately the only way to findout exactly is at fault is through a process of elimination. Can you try a different power supply first? Also try removing the CPU and re-seating it. If not, then you need to try and get hold of another motherboard and see if everything works in that. If not then it could be the CPU. Diagnosing CPU or MOTHERBOARD is always tricky without spares. Good luck
