USB powerloss?
I have a toshiba A200 VO1 only a few weeks old. I also have a mobile broadband modem connected to the three network (HUAWEI model No. E220) works perfectly on 3 of my 4 USB ports but will not detect this device in my front lefthand side USB port. Have tested this many times and found will only "not detect this device" in front left port. This device does require some power to run as initial setup requires usb cable with power assist. Strangely though this port will still run a standard optical mouse. could this be a hardware fault or something else. any ideas?

- computer will run fine for about 30 minutes and then mouse, keyboard, and all usb ports stop working. Reboot and the problem starts over. Is there an easy fix?- tomlachanceDec 20, 2007
- I have somewhat the same problem.I have a Toshiba Satelite A200-17S and a HUAWEI E220. I have 4 usb slots. The modem doesn't work satisfactory in any of them even with possible combinations of the extra powersupply usb cable. What i get is this: I connect. Everything is fine for a random period of time, then all of a sudden it's as if an alien comes into the room and pulls out the cables from the modem and then inserts them again. It has nothing to do with signal strength or anything. Also, my usb wireless mouse never does that, neither does my usb-wired keyboard. I'm on Windows Vista. Any help would be greatly appreaciated!- greenmo

As you have already stated that the port in question can run a standard optical mouse, the port seems to be working fine.
Sometimes the drivers for a USB device need to be installed for each USB port. Maybe you have installed these drivers for 3 of your 4 USB ports, but not for the one in question, result of which is the problem you face.
