After a power outage, the internet is very slow. Could the surge have damaged the router? If connected direct to modem the internet runs normal.

In that case reset the router and reconfigure it with the ISP settings,,there s a smallbutton on the back panel for hard reset but make sure if the router is old reseting might damage it..best of luck

NB>if routers are old then power surge might damage it

Slow internet speed when connected to router

So, If you have internet connection speed problem with your wireless try with the following steps,
1.)Reset the wireless router by using the power switch on it or by unplugging it and plugging it back in.
2.)Place the wireless router in an ideal location. The higher it is, the better, but don't put it near metal objects.
3.)Get as close as possible to the router with whatever device you're trying to connect.
4.)Keep the router and your connecting device away from other electronics. You should especially keep away from phones, fax machines and microwaves. etc.,
5.)Adjust the Wifi antenna if it has one.
6.)Change the router's channel, especially if other wireless routers are nearby.Following these steps would give you stable internet connection and also increased speed in connection. You can check your internet speed from www.ScanMySpeed.Com before and after following these steps.

The router is very slow after reset

Try changing MTU size on the router and see if that works.
Connect the computer to the router.
Open the setup page of the router.
On the setup page you will see MTU. Change it to manual and size to 1365.
Save the settings AND power cycle router.

First connect the computer directly to the modem and make sure that your modem is working properly.
If you are getting slow internet through the modem then you will need to contact your Internet service provider.

Make sure that your router is running on the latest firmware.
See How to upgrade firmware on the router.
After upgrading firmware, reset and reconfigure it.

Why is my acer z5700 very slow when i go to internet?

the navigation on the internet is not restricted only by the computer's performance but the connection type also ..It very much depending on the connection speed..and if you use a slow one..it is the case.Usually the slow function is cause by the use of wireless connections from mobile phone providers..or wrong settings in wireless router..
if this is the case ..try the direct connection with the cable and make a speed test on the internet ..you should have a speed specified in the agreement with the ISP ..if this is very slow ..you should check for causes..Either the connection is damaged or you have a wrong settings somewhere ..

Internet extremely slow on one network, fine on the other

Not knowing if this relates directly as i am not from Australia but have you checked with the ISP.

The phone line providing the internet access may be damaged in some way or require calibration to reduce line noise (which can cause slow speeds).

Alternatively, have you got a usage limit that you may have reached. ISPs have the ability to throttle back your connection speed.

Thanks

Why do I continue to get "checking status of internet connection" then "not working response" when it actually is working?

check to see if all lights on mdm are on if so turn both mdm and router off for 3 to 5 min turn mdm on first wait for dsl light wait 2 min turn router on wait 2 min check connect if still won't work try to connect pc direct to mdm if still cannot connect call isp it could be in mdm or line stats or somewhere else but try pwr cyc first 90 % of the time this gets my cu's back online when they have a router this resolves the problem the cause the 2 (mdm and router are not talking to each other properly and this can happen after a storm or pwr outage or network outage or phone outage these can cause intermitten connections like you are discribbing slow connections or no connections at all an a simple pwr cyc can fix it 90% of the time

Router makes surfing real slow

Are your internet provider has its own MODEM. Because this might be a reason why your connection is slow. Particularly its rerouting your connection into double path so you have to get the Registered IP Address on your internet provider then only use your New Router itself to give relay on data. Good luck!

After power outage I Can't connect without bypassing router

If you can connect directly then, the problem is the wrt54g router. Possible problems:
1) Power Outage damaged the router
2) Power Outage reseted the router

For the second scenario, you should got to the browser and type: http://192.168.1.1/ and check whether you can enter or not. If not, you need to configure the gateway IP on your PC to 192.168.1.1

Slow internet connection

Go to http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest to see how fast your internet speeds really are. Then contact your ISP to see if the speed you are getting is within tolerance for the package you pay for.

DI-524 Intermittent Loss of Wireless Capability after Power Outage

Try upgrading the firmware through the Routers Web Interface , and see if this will fix the problem otherwise the only other way around it is to do what you are currently doing and unplug and plug it back in, perhaps the AP was damaged as a result of a power surge , if the problem persists best bet is to buy a new one.

Goodluck!

3 PC's networked to BEFSX41 very slow accessing internet

sounds like your internet access is the slow down, not the router. You don't say if you have DSL or CABLE or what.  I'd check there. Make sure you are getting a strong signal.  Hook up one system directly, without the router and check the speed.
