Question about Echo Inc. 44 CC, Carb Certified Backpack Blower

Echo PB413H running rough

I purchased this blower new from Home Depot in Nov 2008. I have only used this blower about 8 times and it has worked great until this last time. I only use the Echo brand oil and 93 octane fuel. The blower bogs down when I try to run at "full throtle". If I back off on the throttle, it runs ok but does not have the power it should. When I used it last week it worked fine. Anyone have a solution ?

Thanks for your prompt response. Turns out the Spark Arrestor Screen was slightly clogged. I was really surprised. I bought this blower new and it only has somewhere between 16 - 20 hours running time on it. I always use 93 octane fuel and the Echo brand oil. I guess this unit is going to require more preventive maintainence than I thought.

You should always, always use regular octane fuels, never plus or super, in your 2 cycle engine unless otherwise directed by manufacturer.

From your Description it Sounds like the Exhaust is Restricted or the "H" Mixture Screw Resuires Adjusting.
>>The Following is a Basic Instruction File for Doing a Diagnostic on the Engine for this Problem. Any Input is Appreciated.
>>**Remove the Muffler and Make Sure the Exhaust Port is Clear.
>>If it is, then Try to Start the engine with the Muffler Off.
>>If it Starts and Runs Properly, then Clean the Spark Arrestor Screen in the Muffler or Replace the Muffler if Required.
>>The Following is the Instruction File for Setting the Air Mixture Screws. Any Input is Appreciated. The Procedure is the Same for 1 or 2 Mixture Screws, Just Use the Instruction File and Skip Over the Section with the Missing Mixture Screw ( Usually the H Mixture Screw).
>>Now Setting the Air Mixture Screws:
>>****Turn the Idle Air (L) and Main Air (H) Mixture Screws In Until SNUG **Do Not Jam** Then Reverse Both Screws 1 1/2 Turns. Set the Throttle Full Open, Start the Engine.
>>Turn the Main Air (H) Mixture Screw Clockwise Until Proper Revs are Obtained. **Carefully Use your Finger and Move the Governor Arm to Rev the Engine (on Chainsaws and Trimmers Use the Trigger to Rev the Engine) Until you Reach Max RPMs (on Chainsaws and Trimmers, the RPMs are Not Set to MAX. Set to Max and then Reverse the Setting Screw 1/4 or 1/2 Turn. If the H Mixture Screw is Set too High; the Engine will be Starved for the Oil in the Gas and Damage the Piston and Jug/Cylinder) and the Engine is Running Proper at Full Throttle Up a Grade and for Chainsaws and Trimmers they Do Not Bog DOwn Under a Load. Occasionally you May have to Turn this Counter Clockwise to Achieve the Proper Revs.**
>>Now Allow the Engine to Idle. Set the Engine Idle Screw (Not Idle Air) so the Engine will Stay Running if Required.
>>Now Set the Idle Air (L) Mixture Screw so there is No Hesitation when Rapidly Throttling from Idle to Full Throttle. Reset the Engine Idle if Required.****
Please, Do Not Hesitate, If I Missed Something or you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance.
Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Be Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck

My echo packpack blower won't start

How long has it been since its been started? If its been a while go to Home Depot and get some fuel stabilizer follow the instructions - if it hasn't been to long go to home depot and get a new spark plug and replace the old one as well as clean the filter -make sure to put fresh oil/gas ratio in the tank - use stabilizer if needed

I have an echo pb-250 blower. This is the second blower ive had issues with. I have had it for maybe three months and this is the second time that ive experienced this problem. I can easily start it but...

what you need to do is remove the white plastic plug just above the diaphram gskt in the base of the carb use a pick or drill bit (but only turn it by hand) till you get it out then you will see a screw which will take a small flat blade screwdriver, start and warm up the blower then turn that screw counterclockwise till your Blower runs right on full throttle. the new equipment made now a days is set so lean for emissions that one change in the weather will affect how they run..... 2StrokeJim

its possible the gas pickup tube inside the tank is bent and not reaching the lower tank, this is just a flexible tube in the tank, otherwise, loosen the gas cap when it kills, sometimes they go bad and create a vapor lock

Echo pb413h blower removing starter pawl assembly and installing new one.

I looked on ECHO website for serial#0200-02999. the part number is 17720206210. you don't need a pneumatic tool to remove it but it is nice to have. I would not use the high setting. But you should be able to use just a socket to take the old one off and put a new one on.
Good Day.

Proper gasoline and oil mix ratio.

My echo uses 50-1 ration. Home Depot sells the small containers for Echo Leaf Blowers that you mix with one gallon of gas.
