Question about Frigidaire FRS26R4A Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

My heating and cooling is all electric no gas. The heater works but not the cooler. When I turn it on cool, a short time afterwards it will create a screeching squeeling sound where its located out in the back yard. The sound keeps going for about a few minutes after I turn it off. On days that are not so hot, it seems to work just fine with no squeeling and cools fairly well.

Top unit won't cool

Usually with thermoelectrics they either work or they dont. Not easily repairable unless you are a competent technician as the components need metering. Sounds like a heater element gone.

I have a Frigidaire gas dryer and it ingites and works but with in a minutes the gas is cut off and never ingites back.

On your gas valve , there are 2 coils . Replace both as they come together . When they get warm due to electricity going thru them , one of them will open ( short ) and not let gas come thru until it's cooled down . Turning the dryer back on later , it will work for a short time , then stop heating again until the dryer is cooled back down. Replaceing these coils will solve your problem .

Turn the power of to both the heater and the cooler. Turn the power back on to the heater and the cooler at the same time then reset codes on controller.

LG split system heater cooler. the heater is not working and fan outside is working

I would check to see if the tech accidently left his jumpers on the unit to keep it running while adding freon. I know it sounds like a simple thing. But all techs have done it at one time or another and that will cause this problem. Due to the fact that you just had freon added there is not a reason anywhere that would cause you no heat unless something was hit when this was being done then something electrical fried

How do you reduce an electric bill in a all electric house?

The biggest wasters of electrical energy are Heat and A/c, water heaters, dryers and ranges. The more you insulate the less you have to cool or heat. If you live in a warm climate, consider installing an attic fan that runs on a thermostat or timer. During the summer allow it to run, during winter turn it off. Ceiling fans in rooms that are occupied create the illusion of being cooler, allowing the thermostat to be turned up.I'm not sure of the exact numbers but any thermostat setting on your a/c below 78 is more inefficient so try kicking the a/c up and the heat down. I'm a Florida boy so I can't tell you much about baseboard heaters. I know that anything that heats things up cost a lot in energy.

Consider installing a hot water heater timer. Commonly called a "Little Grey Box". Whenever your water heater is not actually being used it is still heating the water. A big waster. Once installed set the timer to cycle the water heater off during times when you commonly don't use it. Overnight, when your at work etc....

Somewhat antiquated, but a clothesline always uses 100% less energy than a clothes dryer. :) Short of this, try to fill the dryer all the way and make sure your dryer vent and lint trap are clear.

Microwaves draw 1/3 the energy of a range and run for 1/10 of the time. Microwave as many things as you can. In our house we have started microwaving canned veggies and boxed side dishes and such.

These are the big ones I've done at my house. A lot of the other things seemed to be more work than they are worth. Some actually end up costing you more if you don't own the house for decades.

There are many sites you can visit such as your local power company and possibly your local government pages.

Good luck. I'm in the same boat with the high power bill.

No heating

We had the same problem and then had to pay $60 to have the guys who installed our original system tell us we just had the settings wrong. We thought we had "electric heat/cool", which is what we set the thermostat for. Turns out we have "auxhilary heat pump" or something like that. We don't have gas heat, it's electric, but apparently its not basic "electric heat/cool". So try changing your settings. Good luck!
