Question about Kobe CH7936SQ Kitchen Hood

1 Answer

Control Panel Breaks Down

The control panel on my Kobe CH7936SQ has broken twice in 3 years, and is now out of warranty. I had a great deal of difficulty with the repair, as they took several weeks to contact me and then the person who came to do the repair was very rude. When I contacted Kobe to get a new control panel with a different repair service, they did not return my call.

Can this repair be done with minimal work, or do I have to get another kitchen hood?

Re: Control Panel Breaks Down

Is your control panel is under the hood? if so, every time you use your stove turn the hood on, the reason is, the heat from the stove burner is melting it, but if you have your hood on, it will pull away some of the heat. you can try to put your hand at the control panel with the front burners on, then you will feel the heat from the stove.

There are two sleeves that come down from the ceiling to the unit. Lift the bottom sleeve and you will see the control panel. The fuse is either inside the panel or next to the control panel itself. 8V fuse can be ordered from

My existing duct is a 4x10, the KOBE CH2230SQ does provide the 4x10 ducting option, but 1. it does not have any spout to catch the duct opening; 2. the vent plate has a thickness, but my cabinet is...

You should be able to purchase the 4x10 hood boot from Lowe's or Home Depot. As for the cabinet mount, maybe you can cut a bigger hole. I have modified fittings to fit small spaces but most heat and air installers can make you fittings for small confined spaces. I have found them to be quite reasonable too! Hope this helps.

A local small contractor installed our Kobe RA3830SQ Range Hood a few days ago. We have not been too impressed with the efficiency of the fan. Today I noticed that it seems to blow out instead of sucking...

Hoods should blow out from the chimney, its defianately not a wiring problem. If it is blowing down towards your cooker instead of sucking up then you should contact Range as it could be a manufacturing fault.

The electronic touch control has fallen inside the hood this is the second time it has happened is there a plastic mounting bracket on the switch that has broken? left side of switch I can see a mounting...

Yep! This is a classic problem with the Therador PHE series hoods. Very weak design and NO help from the factory! Just the plastic housing is $82.00 bucks online. The panel is REALLY hard to access and the control boards, inside, fail regularly. The board alone costs over $200.00 bucks! These will fail to switch on the fan or change fan speeds or turn lights on and off or fan off. All of this randomly and arbitrarily so people tend to push the switch buttons too hard, causing the bracket to fail and entire panel body falling off inside. We have had ours propped up inside with two chop sticks for several years now and to get the fan to switch on or change speeds we fiddle with the chop sticks while repeatedly pushing the buttons and sooner or later it comes on. The lights rarely will come on, however. This unit is made by Bosch and they have all the same problems with NO fix except to replace ENTIRE control panel at a cost of $350.00 retail. This is truely an example of modern, fancy kitchen appliance over-engineered ripoff junk. Looks great but it makes sure that the fool who buys into the Brand name and cool design gets to pay and pay again for their naivete'.
