Question about Brother MFC 7420 All-In-One Laser Printer
I've just set up a recertified Brother MFC-7420 on my Vista x64 computer. I used the Vista installation disc that came with it.
Printer works fine, but when I try to scan, I get errors:
- If I press the scan button on the machine, it says "
- If I go through the ControlCenter3 to scan, it says "Scanning failed. Please try to scan the image again, if the error happens again pleas restart your computer, and then try to scan again. (CC3-205-03031f02)" Tried restart, still does not work.
- If I go through PaperPort, it says "Unable to communicate with the scanning device" even though I was able to select it as the twaining device.
You just didn't set up the scanner function, please reinstall the software and restart before you use the scanner.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

What model do you run? Is it a brother mfc 240c or something diffrent?!!
I ve never seen such an error code for brother mfc 240c printers!

No, I suspect that this is Brother's proprietary code.
It is up to the manufacturer to continue with the development of code to support the newer operating systems. If Brother has announced a driver for printer then they should release code for any ancillary programs to allow the printer to work properly.
If Brother is telling you that they have no plans to fully support their product under Win 7 and the printer is fairly new then I would start with a corporate complaint letter.

You do not have the right driver downloaded. I actually just had that same problem. I could print but not scan through the CC3 panel. Follow that link and download the correct driver. http://www.brother-usa.com/downloads/
