    Hi Samrat

The links you gave me really don't help a bunch. Let me explain where I'm at.

I've typed REGEDIT in the COMMAND prompt and need to know how I can access the corrupt SYSTEM file from this prompt. I'm using another laptop to communicate to you online.

Question: I downloaded two apps: REGFIXMANTRA and REGISTRYRBOOSTER. Should I place them on a disc and boot the disk in my corrupted laptop?

    Thanks for your prompt help.

    Hi

I tried all that and whatever repair work came out of it, it still was insufficient to repair the system. I remain unable to boot into windows. I'm thinking the worst case: reformatting the hard drive, but if you have any other solution, please let me know your soonest.

    Thanks.

    Hi Richard

I reinstalled (reformatted the c drive) Vista but at the 66% mark a window came up saying Windows cannot access the installation sources. Verify they are accessible and restart.

    What does that mean?

    Thanks.

Hi,

Sounds like the MBR ( Master boot record ) is corrupt,

Try rebooting, keep tapping F8 key until the BLACK Windows start up screen appears, then choose (( last known good )) in here, let it roll, see if this resolves the problem,

Or same again, reboot, tapping the F8 key until the BLACK startup screen appears,
choose (( safe mode )) this time, let it boot, (( graphics are limited in here don't panic, all is good ))
then do a system restore, to an earlier point in time,
start, all progz, accessories, system tools, system restore.

If this fails....

Put your operating system disc in the drive, reboot the system, select to boot from the CD dive, when it pops up and offers it to you,

It will offer you to repair the current operating system, choose this, leave it for 45 mins to do it's thing, you should be good then

Hope this helps

Regards
Richard.

    Hi,

If you have run the repair with you O/S disc, then the system should be good now,

you have a different problem, not a booting problem.

If it is still not booting, this suggests a Harddrive or Motherboard problem,

You are limited to what you can do from here, because safe mode is out, last known good is out, your disc is not doing the job it is supposed to,

This points to Motherboard problem to me.

Sadly, you may have to re-install the O/S

Try to go for the repair a few times first, when a system is un-stable, sometimes things work, then sometimes they don't, see if you can get the repair with the disc,

If not, you will have to re-install the O/S, sorry.

    Regards

    Richard

    Hi,

Let me get this correct please.

You have started the install and the system is installing onto the drive ??

you have found the hard-drive, and formatted it, partitioned it etc...

you have gone through this, then the install is installing, but it is failing at 66%

    Thanks

    Richard.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 stuck in windows boot manager file \windows\system32\config\system status: 0xc000014c info: windows failed to load because the system registry file is missing or corrupt ...

Here's part of an article on how to replace that registry file:

Look in the C:\windows\system32\config\regback\ folder.
There should be copies of the registry files stored inside that folder.
They are backed up periodically and stored in that folder.

If you create a MiniWin, BartPE, or a Linux Live CD, you can start the computer from CD and move the file system to the required folder, C:\windows\system32\config\.

System32.

I'd try to insert my Windows dvd, boot from it and try to repair the installation. If thatdoesn't work, try to backup any data you want if Windows still lauches, and else you will have to reinstall Windows, I'm sorry.

I hope this helps,
Yannick.

try cleaning your Cd.
Failing that you could borrow an operating system disk to get windows up and running and then get all the drivers etc from your restore disks

Acer 5520 notebook startup issues

You are missing the file NTLDR.exe and NTKRNL.exe. NTLDR is the first file your computer sees when it is booting up and it brings up other files to get your computer started then it turns it over to Windows file called NTKTRNL which actually brings up the Windows operating system. The only wayto fix is to find a Windows disc and copy them over to three folders that you have either win32, windows or winnt. Copy to all three if you see all three buy only one of those starts your system and it seems like it's win32 based on your error, folder under your C: drive. That will solve your problem and your computer will boot up normally.
