Load noise from under bonnet sounds like the fan but really load. temperature gauge doesn,t seem to work any more but fans come on when hot. the heater doesn,t work either i have audi avant 2-0 muiltitronic
First check if the fan blades are hitting anything. I think you should replace the fan motor if electric. Some times there are two coolant sensors one for the gauge another for the computer. If the heater is not working it could be the blower fuse. Check all the fuses, replace the gauge coolant sensor and find out whats causing the noise for sure. Let me know what you find and describe the noise better for me. Sounds like you have an electrical problem but I'll need more information from you.First check if the fan blades are hitting anything. could be a number of things from your fan not working, temperature control switch not working,no coolant in engine.your head gasket gone, water pump broke its a common problem with puntos.
Does the engine over heat or the gauge goes to hot. Really hot. Since the A/C is on , this puts an extra load on the engine. This is why the fans come on when the A/C is turned on. This is usually low speed fan mode. High speed doesn't come on untilll 220 to 230 degrees. Most vehicles. Cars don't over heat untill the gauge gets in the red, when it starts getting close is time to worry and stop. I guess the question to you would be, What does the temp gauge read?
I don't have the solution but I have the same problem. You are not alone. I have done everything you have done and have run out of options as far as fixing it with OEM parts. I am going to over ride the system with a hot wire and toggle switch and tie into the led wire on the #1 fan so when temp starts to rise past 180 degrees I can turn the fans on. Freeway driving is ok for me, no fan needed, just when I get off the freeway and around town engine gets hot. My toggle switch has a L.E.D. light in it to indicate the switch is on.
hi it sounds like the engines electric cooling fan has automatically come on as the engine has got hot enough for it to be cooled down
you may have never noticed it before .
check your coolant level and your oil level to be on the safe side and keep an eye on the temperature gauge the fan should come on when the gauge goes past normal running teperature if its coming on a lot there may be a problem but its probably working as normal
HI, due to the damage to the bonnet that protects the fan(fan shroud), this damage has caused a malfunction within the temperatureguage sending unit(temp sensor).
Simply replacing the temp sensor will fix this issue.it could be a lose or ripped wire as well. make sure the temperature sensors wires are connected and not torn.
the fan works but no heat
