I bought a laptop last year and have pretty much had no problems with it until here recently. I treat it as gently as possible and have had no major drops or dings on the unit but here recently, when i open the laptop, the screen whites out in certain spots. (by that i mean certain positions of the lid, the screen is always full white out when this problem occurs) I am fairly certain that it is a lose cable from the display card to the monitor but am not very skilled with laptops. I have the warranty from bestbuy and the warranty from toshiba, but if its as simple as plugging back in the cable i dont want to use it or lose my laptop for a few weeks either. Any ideas as to anything else it could be? and if not, maybe a tut on how to take apart the laptop and get it back together? thanks ahead of time.

if you recently turn on the laptop but the screen doesn't show up not even a just a white screen then probably the power connection of the screen is broken, if just a white screen and no other display then you have a broken flex, a ribbon cable, other posibilities is that you might have a busted laptop. try removing the battery and plug directly to your power cable, long press the power button until you see led light turning on,. if your still not sure, you better bring it to a techinician, or to the store were you bought it if it still has the warranty.
As a pretty avid baseball player, I through about two gloves
every other year. I personally think
that it is better to get a stiff, strong leather glove so that you get more use
out of it and mold it exactly to your hand.
the old dog Presairo. id buy something newer, sure would 2005 carbon dated by me? 12 years old now, buy a used LT at Goodwill with Coa sticker with W7 on it. and never any compaqs unless 2010 to 2013(last year made 13) the best PC is one that is supported in 2017 and has future. and not buying parts that cost 2 to 10 times what yours is worth. right? Time to upgrade, its not hard, the USA is in glut status in used PC. (vast numbers are scrapped here) or sent to 3rd world. (on ships)
why post not telling the OS (oper.. system?) making answers 10 time more hard.> why? no photos of said lines, pretty hard to tell in words what a complex screen shows. no? my guess is the screen is bad. that is why you found it for nothing (hope) and 50 to $100 fix plus labor. this no monitor, its Laptop screen so there are NO size buttons. right click the screen desktop see those choices, that is all you get. or control panel click display ,wysiwyg.
the lines, if you gently twist the screen with 2 hands, do the lines change i bet yes, telling you what?, "bad screen"
if you plug in a Desktop VGA screen to the rear. then push FN+F4 key and pick external or both , bingo you get that external screen working and now it works , right?
this PC is now listed as retired at HP best is to own a PH that is 10 years or less old. for sure.
NO OS stated. by you. both XP and VISTA have no Support now. zero. and will get worse. (cost of ownership huge and down time endless)
