Question about NetGear : WG111 54 Mbps Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter, RETAIL (DSNGWG111)

Connection problem i have a external netgear 54 mbps wireless usb 2.0 adapter. i am having problems with it going offline for no reason when i am online using it. such as playing an online video game like WOW or DOD. not sure why this is happening to me. this is new and i had it installed by my internet provider about 2 weeks ago. if u have any idead let me know please.

    i know the usb adapter get pretty warm after its been on awhile also would that have an effect on anything or not also.

If it's going offline, then it's losing the signal, or is recieving a low signal, it should be at 54mbps but when it gets below around 24mbps, it will disconnect and look for a stronger connection in your area, or disconnect from the net altogether.


Put your router in a higher and better line of sight to your adapter, walls and floors can block the signal and check that it's not your router that is losing the connection.

You'll need to know the letter that follows the wg111 to pick your model then you should be able to find the driver for your operating system and download it.

Connect the USB adapter into ur Laptop
After the Laptop detects the device it will look for the device driver. Cancel the setup at that point.
Go to My computer , open the external drive and click on the setup.exe icon.

It will automaticaly install all the required things.

WG111 54 Mbps Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter is not connecting with the third party adsl router when the computer is starting for the first time, why?

That is because your motherboard may have no native support for USB 2.0. Try connecting the adapter to another PC. If this works, then, there is your answer.

I was also facing the same problem. My sygate firewall was blocking the USB adapter from connecting to the net.
