Try using your X1 with your computer. Plug the X1 green plug into the green jack on the PC. Plug the X1 pink plug into the pink jack on your PC. Try using the headset to listen to the sound of your voice. Can you hear your voice through the headset? If yes, then the mic is OK but the chat-controller cable needs to be replaced. If not, then you should contact Turtle Beach tech support at firstname.lastname@example.org.
either the headset is not supported by Vista, or you need to right click on both speaker icons, normally coloured red and black and in the properties you need to see if your headset is listed as one of the microphone input devices, if you need to make the Logitech headset the default mic and not the windows generic mic.
If you do not see it in the properties then it may not be recognised by Vista.
Try going to Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices
Click on Voice Tab and make sure the proper device is selected. Click on Volume and make sure levels are appropriate. Lastly, click on Test Hardware and wait until you can speak into the mic to see the voice levels. If you can see the voice levels, then your mic probably works and it is just an issue of configing the COD settings.
