Dead USB Ports...

-   I use a Acer travel mate.i have the same problem.checked drivers, they appear to be all ok. The ports are electrified. i can`t connect my external hardrive or any other device. when i run chkdsk it tells me it can`t fix problems on /f (which was the ext drive before the problem accured) because it was not selected. when i try to run chkdsk on /f it tells me it can`t find it ....-   djseth

-   I also use Presario M2000 notebook, and it also went dead. Sometimes it went dead, I plug out and plug in again, it usualy work again, but this only happen in one port ( the Presario M2000 have 3 usb port).

I don't know what caused this to appear.

First I thought that my wireless mouse keyboard ( I use logitec wireless mouse keyboard), but I plug it to other usb port it has no problem).
Then I use ordinary mouse the problem occur (the same usb port that has problem)

I experience it just recently may be about this past 2 months.
Looking at the post at this site. The time is also match. Is it possible that the windows update caused this problems? I use Win XP and I always update it.

-   One of my USB port work sometimes. It will stop, and a icon will say the port is not reconized. When I take the wireless mouse connection out and put it back in a couple times then it start working for awhile. If I put a PCI USB card in there is no problem? I need to put my portable internet card in that slot. Anybody have this problem.-   Guest

-   I have an Acer 3100 all three USB are dead, will not recognize anything. Have not tried very many things, other than different devices that I know work on other computors. Any help would be great computor is only 16 months old-   hrdwarlady
