Freezing of low pressure pipe 24 BTU

A line or coil freezing is a sign of restricted air flow or low on freon. Make sure the fan that circulates the cold air is working and the filter and coil at the filter are clean. A dirty coil can be cleaned with coil cleaner and a water hose. You will need to remove the unit and take it outside. (window units only) You can buy a bottle of coil cleaner at any hardware store. Follow the instructions on the bottle but basically you spray the coil until soaked wait 5 minutes and flush it clean with water from a hose. Repeat if necessary. Try not to get water and cleaner on the controls. Be careful water will be trapped in the unit you may want to tip it toword the back for 10 minutes or so and if possible let it set outside to dry. Reinstall the unit and put a clean filter on it and give it a try. If ice forms again it is low on freon and will require a repairman to fix it. Freon is a restricted item and you have to have a license to buy it. good luck..

Cooling fins surrounding coils are freezing and

mcdevito75 here, Possibly, the filter needs cleaning / replacement, unit set to too cold. Shut A/C off, let the ice melt on it"s own DO NOT REMOVE ICE YOURSELF, those coils have the fren gas in them, when the ice is all melted restart unit, set temp. not so cold, around 60--65 degrees, and have exhaust to out. This shpoul;d help, you can always check with your local A/C repair shop, they come to the house.

Celiera 12000 btu Mini-split ac unit blows cool air but not as cold as in the past. Unit has been installed for 3 years and functioned fine until now. Is it likely that I simply need additional freon?

It's 'possible' but not likely that you need additional freon.

What is more likely is the 'filter' (for inside coil) is dirty and possibly the coil itself - and/or - the outside coil is dirty.

I would check out the filter - if dirty - I would change it and would also inspect the inside coil. If it's also dirty I would clean it the best I could (with a brush of some sort).

I would also check the outside coil and clean it if need be.

Hope this helps.

Doesn't collect water, freezes on top

clean filter and then check the coil behind the filter to see if clean. Biggest things that freeze a unit are dirty filter or coil...or low on freon.

My lg wall unit (LWHD1009R) 10,000 btu the compressor keeps turning off after it gets going. even though I have it on a low temp. the comressor turns off after 5-10 minutes even though the room is not cold

either going off on low charge which would cause it to ice up, which means you need refrigerant. or high head pressure might just have to clean the coils or check condensor fan.

18,000 btu kenmore wall A/C fins on back side of filter freezes up. Why?

There may be several reasons. First ensure the air filter is clean and not clogged with dirt. Second ensure the coil is clean and has good air flow. IF you did that then the unit may be low on refrigerant charge.

Wall ac unit keeps freezing up inside.

Do not run it on maximum cool and fan on low. Freezes up all the time this way.

Fidgerdare electrtolux air conditioner

have you brought it down for a general cleaning on the 3 year period? if not then that's what it needs now.

the coil is freezing up because of dirt accumulation on the coil. even there is a filter, still with in 3 years it could have accumulated to decrease the airflow thru the coil and freeze it up.

tnx 4 using fixya,

LG dehumidifier developing ice

First you would need to clean the filter. LG recommends cleaning the filter every 2 weeks on their dehumidifiers. The second thing you need to do is clean the coils periodically. On this dehumidifier it should include a brush for cleaning the coils. It is located on the top of the bucket. To access the coils the following needs to be done:

1.) Unplug the unit from power
2.) Remove the bucket and also the air filter
3.) Remove the front pannel by removing the 2 lower screws and depressing the tabs.
4.) Once the panel is removed you will see the coils. You need to clean them with the brush. Go in an up and down motion to remove the dirt and dust.

Now use the reverse steps to put it back together. If your dehumidifier runs often I recommend you clean the coils about every 3 to 4 months. This is a common problem on alot of dehumidifiers and people think their dehumidifier is broken. Most of the time the coils are just dirty which causes the water to stay between them and freeze. Keep me posted. Also if you found this response helpful, please rate this solution when you get a chance. Thanks - Tech101
